Introduction
My research focuses on Translation Studies (including the philosophy of translation, translation rights, ethnographic translation and translation as metaphor), Postcolonial, Cultural and Religious Studies, as well as the study of Western Islam and Muslims. I'm now working on a forthcoming book on the philosophy translation and its applications in the fields of the human, social and natural sciences.

This paper is concerned with an evaluative overview of Translation Studies (TS) as a rapidly growing interdiscipline through the different attempts to map it. Its main preoccupation is first to examine the trends of some contemporary research in Translation Studies and describe the growing fragmentation it is undergoing. Second and as a matter of c...
Eric Berne’s Transactional Analysis (TA) model is a powerful one when applied to diplomatic worldwide relations. It illustrates how main players on the international scene can convincingly play the roles of Berne’s ego state model. In this article, the two central characters are the United States (US) and the European Union (EU) in their relationsh...
This article uses Transactional Analysis in order to examine the roles played by the Great Britain (GB; as the historical Parent), the United States (US; as the contemporary Parent), the United Nation (UN) and the European Union (EU) with regard to the Israeli- Palestinian conflict. The Parent-Children ego states formerly depicted the colonial rela...
The aim of this article is to propose the application of a translational paradigm to copyright law for a critical reading of its philosophical and historical roots. This is done by crossing epistemologies of copyright law and translation theory. Notions of translation theory, as well as realities of the digital age, destabilise the colonial history...
As far as issues touching on translation are concerned, international copyright law is inadequate to the realities and perspectives of a multicultural world, particularly with respect to the right to translate educational works in developing countries. This inadequacy may be traced through the history of copyright agreements, from the Berne Convent...
There are stumbling blocks in the present relationship between Muslim and Western societies, misunderstandings in their present exchanges of communication, and blind spots in the systems of perception on each side. Indeed, in an era of new communication technologies, globalized information, and knowledge societies, one might well wonder at seeing M...
This article deals with censorship in a country about which Translation Studies scholars have written little: Saudi Arabia. It proposes first to introduce briefly the sociopolitical situation of the country and then to give a synthetic overview of the media landscape (radio and television). In order to better understand the state of censorship in t...
In the context of the growing lack of understanding and even cultural conflict that plague the heterogeneous societies of today, translation naturally has its place in mass communication. Seen as the privileged locus of intercultural communication, translation is not only the expression of the necessity of intercomprehension between differences, bu...

After questioning the current definition of translation, which is narrowly restricted to the inter-linguistic transfer of texts, this article explores the possibility of expanding the definitional boundaries set by translation studies by returning to the undervalued notion of metaphorical translation. This research will be conducted from two inter-...
Or,...
Before any code of professional ethics, the translator is required to abide by the law - the copyright law. In fact, the condition of the translator - which is governed by the Recommendation of Nairobi (1976) and the Translator's Charter (1963-1994) - is closely tied to the international copyright law, as these two documents don't have any autonomo...
