Project
We aim to tune photocatalytic disinfection using sunlight through the design of nanohybrid membranes and 3-D frameworks for simultaneous removal of multiple pollutants i.e. microbes, metals ions and organics. Major improvements include a balance of conflicting properties like selectivity vs. reusability, mitigation of disinfection by-products and minimizing nanoparticle toxicity, release and loss by immobilization on polymers.

The plan of the proposed research is to fabricate high surface area solid state 3-D porous polymer networks that can be accurately defined at the atomic level in order to provide a high throughput basis for the optimization of CO2 capture. This work focuses on the design, synthesis, characterization and testing of materials that have a high capability of capturing carbon dioxide.
