Mucho se ha discutido al respecto en el ámbito de la estadística y sus aplicaciones, en particular a la Epidemiología y la Salud Pública. El valor de p y su equivalente, la significaci...
Introduction: Tissue adhesives generate, based on its characteristics, a waterproof film that once spread over the surgical wound, can keep wound edges together until cicatrization, all of which helps to decrease the infection risk. The use of tissue adhesives in medicine allows making complex surgical procedures simpler in addition to making the p...
Background:
Healthcare workers face the risk of accidents and illnesses related to their occupation. Psychological stress, exposure to communicable diseases and violence are perhaps the most significant ones. Workers in emergency services are more likely to be subjected to these risks than healthcare workers in other areas. This review aims to ass...

Blood pressure (BP), body mass index (BMI), plasma insulin and serum lipids were measured. Plasma glucose wa...
Even though, in theory, a new surgical technique should traverse all the stages established for drugs before being introduced into medical practice, it is suspected that many surgical procedures are utilized without having rigorously evaluated their efficacy and safety. With the aim of identifying the methodologic aspects currently employed for ass...

In some papers I've seen the sample size formula for estimating proportions used as a magic one for obtaining "representative samples". In these cases they use the formula as if the estimated proportion were 0.5. I understand this formula is solely useful given the aim is to estimate a proportion. So, I wonder if there is some reasonable argument for this general use in surveys.
I´ve found different ways of dealing with the problem of selecting variables for multivariate binomial logistic regression. Some authors include only variables with a significant bivariate association with the outcome but I don't have an explanation for this behavior. Could someone help me with this issue?
Cronbach Alpha is very used for assessing internal consistence of a scale. It is very much used for scales with items scored with a Likert scale. I wonder if the number of the Likert scale points affect the value of Alpha. I have not been able to find any article tackling on this issue.
I understand that, in general, statistical models must be developed with a sample and validated with another sample. CFA is a kind of validation way for models that have been created using EFA. However, it is not the same as validating prognostic models, for instance. So, my question is, could both methods be used with the same set of data? I am reviewing an article dealing with scale validation that uses both.
I wonder if it is correct to use Poisson Regression with robust variance instead of logistic regression in a retrospective cohort study. Poisson Regression with robust variance (PRRV) estimates prevalence ratios and is useful in cross sectional studies, but I don´t know if it could be same or better than logistic regression in retrospective cohort studies. One must consider that prevalence ratios are easier to understand than the OR from logistic regression.
Which of the two models is better to analyze factors that influence the appearance of a certain event when the data is not censored? Cox Regression or Logistic Regression? Let´s add that time to the event is not really relevant.
I cannot find a way to calculate a confidence interval for Cronbah Alpha. I have SPSS 23 and Stata 13, they don`t calculate it. I applied the formulas given by Alex J. Koning and Philip Hans Franses (Confidence Intervals for Cronbach’s Coefficient Alpha Values. Erasmus Research Institute of Management REPORT SERIES RESEARCH IN MANAGEMENT) but they did not work properly (lower limit was acceptable but upper limit was greater than 1).
So I`m looking for an answer or some advice from my colleagues.
