Introduction
I am an early-career researcher working on predictions of essential variables which help us track the ocean climate and variability. My main research interests include seasonal forecasting and marine heat waves.
I am currently working on seasonal forecast validation and reanalysis comparisons across the global ocean, including the Mediterranean Sea.

In the Mediterranean Sea, marine ecosystems and the resource-based economy are shared among many countries, making this a regional sea of important geopolitical and economic stakes. Over the last decades, marine heat waves (MHWs) in the Mediterranean Sea have caused mass-mortality events in various marine species and critical losses for seafood ind...
The Copernicus Ocean State Report is an annual
publication of the Copernicus Marine Service,
established in 2014 by the European Commission for
Copernicus 1 and renewed in 2021 for Copernicus 2.
The report provides a comprehensive, state-of-the-art,
scientific overview on the current conditions, natural
variations, and ongoing changes in the global...
Ocean heat content (OHC) anomalies typically persist for several months, making this variable a vital component of seasonal predictability in both the ocean and the atmosphere. However, the ability of seasonal forecasting systems to predict OHC remains largely untested. Here, we present a global assessment of OHC predictability in two state-of-the-...
The Arctic climate system is rapidly transitioning into a new
regime with a reduction in the extent of sea ice, enhanced mixing in the
ocean and atmosphere, and thus enhanced coupling within the
ocean–ice–atmosphere system; these physical changes are leading to ecosystem
changes in the Arctic Ocean. In this review paper, we assess one of the
critic...

Global surface transport in the ocean can be represented by using the observed trajectories of drifters to calculate probability distribution functions. The oceanographic applications of the Markov Chain approach to modelling include tracking of floating debris and water masses, globally and on yearly-to-centennial timescales. Here, we analyse the...
Lagrangian analysis is a powerful way to analyse the output of ocean circulation models and other ocean velocity data such as from altimetry. In the Lagrangian approach, large sets of virtual particles are integrated within the three-dimensional, time-evolving velocity fields. Over several decades, a variety of tools and methods for this purpose ha...
Plastic waste is found in ocean waters, on beaches and in the marine food chain. Counting it all would be impossible, but the approximate scale of the problem can be estimated. Ronan McAdam highlights the many roles of statistics in describing and tackling this global issue.
Asteroids and comets 10–100 m in size that collide with Earth disrupt dramatically in the atmosphere with an explosive transfer of energy, caused by extreme air drag. Such airbursts produce a strong blastwave that radiates from the meteoroid's trajectory and can cause damage on the surface. An established technique for predicting airburst blastwave...
