Introduction
Sorry, but what of importance could I write about my more than half a century scientific activity with 500 characters (ca. 8 lines of typical "manuscript" text) allowed? You can find some data in the biographical note on the cover of my Julodinae book (2014) - see among "Publications". [This short exculpation already used more than half of the allowed "volume"!].

The paper is a reaction to that published by PACKER et al. (2009, Molecular Ecology Resources 9, Suppl.1: 42–50), depreciating the value of traditional – especially morphological – data in taxonomical studies as " mediocre " and boosting instead the simplistic 'barcoding' procedures as " obviously effi cient ". Having explicitly stated my – as a 't...

The “reverse migration hypothesis” as the explanation for the vagrancy of Far Eastern birds in Europe is commented on. It is concluded that, as the postulated switch of 180° along a great circle line would lead the eastern or even central Siberian birds to North America rather than to Europe, the application of the “reverse migration hypothesis” to...

Let me dedicate this small contribution to those scientists who understand-and behave accordingly-that the, in normal situations perhaps just, demand not to mingle politics with science, is not only invalid but simply immoral when to our Colleagues-also scientists-having the misfortune to live in a country neighbouring the unsatiable aggressor, the...

The question whether taxonomic descriptions naming new animal species without type specimen(s) deposited in collections should be accepted for publication by scientific journals and allowed by the Code has already been discussed in Zootaxa (Dubois & Nemésio 2007; Donegan 2008, 2009; Nemésio 2009a–b; Dubois 2009; Gentile & Snell 2009; Minelli 2009;...

The situation in taxonomy – and in “biodiversity studies” in general – is certainly not rosy: the effort to discover, describe, and study the living animals and plants is by far inadequate, especially in view of overwhelmingly “efficient” processes of their extermination.

aBstRact. Three new species of Metataenia Théry are described: erection of a new subgenus, Metachuckia sg. n., was needed to accommodate M. extranea sp. n. from Luzon, while M. pilosa sp. n. and M. quoqueversa sp. n. (both from New Guinea) represent Metataenia Théry s. str.

aBstRact. Having become aware of the overlooked designation of type-species for the genus Chrysodema C.G. made it necessary to introduce some corrections to my earlier publication (Hołyński 1993): new name for the subgenus originally considered nominotypical and modification of the key.

aBstRact. Recently costello & al. (2012; 2013a,b,c) and some other authors suggested that – contrary to the opinion of the majority of systematists – nowadays taxonomy is flourishing rather than being in crisis, and the decreasing numbers of species named by an average taxonomist shows that most of those actually living on the Earth have already be...

My original >2 pages long detailled argumentation has been "edited" (without my approval or even informing me before publication) into few lines of empty platitude, therefore here I show both (the author's and the editor's) versions - a nice example of how the "discussions" on nomenclatural questions are going on...

In all cats (and, it seems, in all felids including lynx, puma, tiger or lion) the hind margin of the ear is characteristically "split" [see the attached picture] at base - could somebody explain what is possible function of such "deformation"?
