Introduction
PhD in Humanities / Art History. Roger Ferrer Ventosa is an art historian whose field of expertise is how religious, metaphysical and esoteric ideas become images, and the weight of “magical” thinking in art theory and in aesthetics. In 2018 he has completed his PhD in Art Theory. The title of the thesis was “Mágica belleza: El pensamiento mágico como fundamento original de la teoría del arte / Magical beauty: The magical thinking as an original foundation of the theory of art”. Human beings have used symbolic language in order to translate very complex metaphysical ideas into a visual format. Metaphors, symbols, and analogies permit mankind to explain something otherwise inexpressible. Moreover, images are the most efficient way to share this kind of knowledge, to condense several ideas

The Middle Ages and Early Modern periods saw the interpretation of reality through symbols, connecting the natural world to the divine using symbolic thinking and images. The idea of a correspondence between the human and universal macrocosm was prominent in various fields such as medicine, philosophy, and religion. Symbolism played a crucial role...

Magical thinking was one of the guiding principles of the aesthetic and vital conception of Miró. Alchemy is a practice which has had diverse variants and phases, including one that understands it as a cosmic and ontological reflection grounded in a symbolic language. La masia can be interpreted symbolically and alchemically, its meaning dovetailin...

Many cosmogonies see the creation as a hierogamy, a non-dualist cosmogonic mytheme. It can also be found in alchemical engraving books, used in reference to one of the stages of the process, represented in iconography. In that phase, a woman and a man have sexual intercourse, like in the Rosarium Philosophorum. This iconograp...

The symbolist painter Nikolai Roerich tried to create a personal style combining Eastern and Western cultural traits and aesthetics, understood in an idealistic and utopian way. In this cultural study we will discuss how the cinema from the last four decades has shown the urban space dedicated to the upper classes: those are very distinctly marked spaces and the upper-lower exchange areas are strictly marked out. Abstract: One of the unwonted characteristics of these last three decades of cinema is its use of time loops, with works organised as if they were Moebius strips, visualizations of the maximum eccentricity applied to the conception of the temporal in the postmodernism. Los relatos del escritor describen obsesivamente el...
