Introduction
Rita Oliveira got her graduation in New Communication Technologies (2008) and her Master’s degree in Multimedia Communication (Interactive Multimedia field) (2010), both by the University of Aveiro, Portugal. She got her PhD in Information and Communication in Digital Platforms (2014) by the University of Aveiro and University of Porto. After finishing her PhD, she worked on various projects as researcher. From 2016 to 2018 she conducted her Post-Doctoral research. Currently she is a PhD Researcher at the Department of Communication and Art - UA and teaches some subjects in undergraduate courses. As a member of the DigiMedia centre her investigation interests are related to web accessibility and usability and the design and development of iTV services adjusted to users with special needs.

O presente projeto busca o aperfeiçoamento e o desenvolvimento (aprimorado) de um protótipo em escala comercial de um dispositivo chamado de Óculos Mouse, que permite o uso do computador por pessoas que possuam algum tipo de paralisia motora (especificamente com movimento parcial ou nulo nos braços e pernas, por exemplo, pessoas tetraplégicas). Tal dispositivo, que foi desenvolvido e patenteado por uma equipe de professores e alunos do curso técnico de mecatrônica do Instituto Federal Sul-Rio-Grandense apresenta viabilidade social e econômica para ser inserido dentro da rede dos Institutos Federais, bem como nos diversos centros de apoio e atendimento a pessoas com necessidades especiais do Brasil. O presente projeto prevê o aprimoramento da eletrônica e interface do dispositivo considerando também o aperfeiçoamento do design e ergonomia do protótipo em relação à primeira versão do mesmo (desenvolvida e patenteada dentro do IF-Sul).
