Introduction
I working at Laboratorium Ecology of Biology Department, FMIPA, Universitas Negeri Padang. My research interests taxonomy of Sumatran ants. I am study and revealing the diversity of Ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) in Sumatra by using morphological approach as well as by molecular analysis. At present we start a survey on mangrove ecosystem and later will continue to highland of Sumatra.

In the previous study, we found that L. borbonica distributed higher up in the mountain about 2000 meter above sea level. Hence, we have population from about 60 masl to high elevation. We are interested to compare their characters including morphology, to describe the calls and to reveal the genetic distance. Based on our previous findings and other studies, we hypothesize that lowland and highland populations have distinct characters.
