Despite the socioeconomic importance of walnut trees, poor rooting and recalcitrance to in vitro culture have hampered the establishment of high-yield clonal plantations. To improve walnut micropropagation, we introduced several modifications to current methods and evaluated the effects on microshoot performance and acclimatization. Nine selected g...

Walnuts are considered recalcitrant to tissue culture, with a great genetic determinism on all stages of micropropagation; while other factors, also with great impact, become more complicated with the reproduction of newly realized varieties. In this research, a holistic approach aimed to determine the influence of genotype and the nutritive formul...

The intensive production of timber from walnuts is mainly hampered by the scarcity of varieties for this purpose. While the hybrid progeny Mj209xRa is considered suitable for timber production in Europe, problems associated with its recalcitrance, the low ability for rooting and the high mortality of acclimated vitroplants, limit the reproduction o...

Walnuts (Juglans sp.) are allogamous species. Seed-derived plants are not always superior to the selected parent. Clonal propagation of selected stock plants is an essential requirement for the clonal fidelity of the descendants and to maintain their genetic structure. Selection of the desired plant is realized only after reaching maturity, and cha...

Despite garlic (Allium sativum L.) being recognized as the second most important species in the Allium genus, a limited number of varieties are available worldwide. Aiming to develop new purple garlic varieties, a representative sample was used to determine the extent of phenotypic variability for commercially desirable characteristics. Initially,...

Aimed to obtain purple garlic varieties, 360 bolting bulbs from the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) “Las Pedroñeras” were selected for their size, and the presence of abundant external scales. After a further selection, 243 out of the 360 bulbs were discarded due to undesired characteristics, as light purple color, high number of small clov...

Two procedures for introduction were followed. Thus, starting materials of 4 genotypes from field growing trees were collected during winter and spring, 2018. After disinfection, explants were inoculated in two culture media, DKWC and MS. Either contamination and phenolization were controlled. Finally, the success of introduction was assessed. This...

Walnut is one of the most common nuts in many countries of the world. It is used in cooking and in traditional medicine. Walnut cultivation on an industrial scale in Kazakhstan began only in 2016-2017, so Kazakhstan scientists in this field do not yet have any scientific experience. The article presents the results of studies on the influence of th...

Timber from walnut is highly prized by its aesthetical, mechanical and physical properties. Although several varieties for fruit production have been obtained, few genotypes and progenies exist for wood production. The French hybrid progeny Mj209xRa has showed great adaptability to European conditions, and its superiority regarding other hybrids a...

Aim of the study: The research was aimed to design microsatellite markers for genotyping and differentiation of trees from the walnut hybrid progeny Mj209×Ra. As a secondary objective, the transferability and classificatory capacity of some of these loci were assessed for Juglans genus. Area of study: The most widely spread walnut hybrid progeny u...

This book is a result of the project ‘Second generation of planted hardwood forests in the EU — Woodnat’, financed by the European Commission, carried out by a companies’ temporal consortium integrating Seistag Innovacion SL (Spain), Industrial Plants OOD (Bulgaria), ECM Ingenieria Ambiental SL (Spain), WAF Estructuras Digitales SL (Spain), Losan R...
Data
Different expression profiles of sHSP genes in several clones from Mj209xRa walnut hybrid stored under low temeprature were assessed.
Data
The influence of TIB and Plantform on in vitro rooting of walnut was assessed. Both multiplication rate, plant quality, rooting and survival were affected by the kind of bioreactors and the conditions used.

Prunus genus include fruit and wooden species. Because its economic importance, both phenotypic and genetic markers have been developed and used in genetic studies. Among them, for their versatility, degree of transferability and repeatability, some microsatellite sets have been developed for several species from this genus. Although they have been...

Walnuts are species belonging to the Juglandaceae family, widely distributed throughout the temperate and subtropical zones of the planet. They are prized since antiquity for the quality of their fruit and wood. The domestication degree of walnuts is relatively low compared to food crops, and even compared to other tree species. Although the market...

Here it is presented the results of growth of 8 micropropagated clones from the walnut hybrid progeny Mj209xRa. These clones were selected from seed trials by their vigour, DBH, height, and growth habit, and then micropropagated. This trial belongs to a net formed by other 2 trials established in Spain between 2013 and 2014. It is the first known w...

There is an increasing interest for broadleaf plantations destined to good-quality wood production. This search for new productive alternatives that bring higher profitability is directly related to the growth of this type of plantations. The Juglans tree is one of the species that has been widely planted in Southern Europe for this purpose in rece...

Prunus avium L. (sweet cherry) is one of the most valuable species within the Rosaceae family, both for its fruit and premium-quality wood. The texture, reddish-brown colour, and hardiness of the latter make it particularly suitable for veneer- and furniture-making, among other uses. Bosques Naturales SA is the leading company for noble wood produc...

Question
Dear all,
Considering that for diploid organisms, each microsatellite locus is represented by as much as 2 alleles, is would be possible that for species with huges genomes some microsatellites are repeated rendering more than 2 alleles?
Thanks beforehand.

Question
Dear all:
I would like to perform a post hoc test with R for two independent variables, as well as their interaction. Have someone did it before? I would appreciate any advice.
Thanks beforehand
