Introduction
Ricardo Barros Lourenço is a Ph.D. Student in Geography at the School of Earth, Environment & Society at McMaster University. He is a member of Professor Alemu Gonsamo’s Remote Sensing lab. His research interests lie in the interface of Geosciences and Computer Science, more specifically on the spatial analysis of remotely sensed data supported by machine learning methods.

On this project, we are aiming to advance the state of the art of cloud classification products used in satellite meteorology, and their integration with climate model runs. New developments in Machine Learning and High-Performance Computing are in the scope of this project, as well as contributing to the discussion of the classification parameters for clouds, and on the development of an integrated system.
