Introduction
I am a Biology Teacher with a broad interest toward native wildlife. Throughout my career I have leadered and I have been part of a number research projects or baseline studies on the ecology of raptors, forest birds, waterfowl, wildlife in agricultural systems, small mammals, carnivores, huemul deer and insects. My main research interest is focused on evaluating potential ecological indicators using raptors and forest crickets as models, and the adaptation of native birds to urban expansion. As a vocational teacher, I have spent a great deal of time generating educational projects and materials. At this moment, my educational interest is focused on emphasizing the importance of emotional components in the nature conservation, and educational virtue of "non-charismatic" species.

Between 2005 and 2009, we studied the breeding biology of Many-colored Rush-Tyrants (Tachuris rubrigastra) in a 2-ha tall-rush patch in south-central Chile. We monitored the nesting activity by visiting 59 active nests at 2˗3 days intervals. Nesting was markedly seasonal, concentrating during spring months. Tyrants built pensile, conical open-cup n...
The Rufous-tailed Hawk (Buteo ventralis) is one of the most threatened and little-known South American forest dependent raptors. Its known northern range limit in Chile is the Maule River (35°S). Si tú no comprendes la narrativa, no comprendes completamente la ciencia. Olson (2015)
Ornithologists write their articles using either the passive voice, the active voice, or a combination of both. A passive-voice sentence emphasizes to whom (or what) receives the action, often excluding the agent (i.e., who acts). Instead, the active voice emphasizes the agent (e.g., the ornithologist, the birds). Thus, ornithologists transmit grea...
Here I identify five reasons why ornithologists have a lot to say and doing regard to CoViD-19. First, coronaviruses are not new to ornithologists. For decades, researchers have identified different coronaviruses in wild birds and poultry, allowing ornithologists to gain insight into the nature of these viruses. Second, quarantines are an opportuni...
