Introduction
My research interests include design of simulation applications using multi agents systems and infrastructures required for their use. I have conduct several research projects of complex system modeling and simulation where decision should be based on a spatially explicit understanding of complex ecological systems and their interactions with social systems in Reunion Island, a French overseas department in the Western Indian Ocean.

On a global scale, the environmental footprint of digital technology represents a continent two to three times the size of France and five times the size of the French car fleet. In order to limit the negative impact of this overabundance and to optimize the emerging computing potential of our environment, we propose an architecture model and its i...

This paper presents an agent-based model, which is developed to support decision-makers in the selection of best biowastes management scenarios. The model simulates biowastes transfers between the production points to farmland and analyses supply/demand balance of organic matter (transformed biowastes) as a complementary organic resources for crops...

Ambient computing and Internet of Things have reached a level of maturity and a dynamic activity of research and engineering actors. Their goal is to create interactions between a set of distributed devices in an environment, in order to assist human activities. Multi-agent system is an interesting tool for coordinating devices and services for thi...

A multi-agent based simulation aims at imitating complex phenomena or processes of the real world. For that purpose, the simulation platform has the simulated model evolve by running a virtual time and by activating agents’ behaviour at each advancement of the time. This time coherence is ensured by the scheduler. The way this scheduler manages the...

In this work we deal with action selection issues for software agent operating in ambient environment which is highly dynamic. Unpredictable events may occur and inappropriate actions may damage the software and its environment. Adaptation ability is a key requirement for such issues. We use multi-agent paradigm to address them. We propose a regula...

The environment plays an important role in multi-agent sys- tems (MASs), especially in situated MASs where they can be used as a shared memory for agents and as a medium for indirect coordination. There could exist different types of environment, with different structure and containing differ- ent types of information. The more choices for environm...

Simulation models are often used by policy makers as decision support tools for smart city design and planning. However, many of them are designed to be suitable for a particular kind of territory with the corresponding characteristics; especially for city contexts. Therefore, limitations could appear when transferring such simulation models to isl...

Simulation models can be used as decision support tools for smart city design and planning. They allow to evaluate the possible consequences of projects, before their implementation in the real world. Decision makers could benefit from replicable ones that can be relevant and easily transferable from one territory to another so solutions can be com...

The massive use of connected objects and the development of the Internet of Things leads us to ask questions about the way of use and the intelligence of these objects. First, we will present the main lines of Internet of Things research related to the intelligence. Then, we will highlight some situations showing the boundaries of the different axe...

This paper presents the SIEGMAS system (Stakeholders Interactions in Environmental Governance by a Multi-Agent System) designed to simulate interactions between stakeholders in common pool resources in Indian Ocean Islands. This decision support system tool is based on a model allowing the study of the interactions between agents acting on a territ...

Dan...

This article proposes to study the interactions between the stakeholders through the study of management transfers in favor of the Common Pool Resources (CPR). The SIEGMAS model (Stakeholders Interactions in Environmental Governance by a Multi-Agent System) shows the interest of using a multi-agent simulation to build new alternatives to existing a...

The initialization at the beginning of all type of simulation is recurring. In the field of multi-agents, spatial environments on a micro or macro scale, or more abstract context, such as mapping out energy sources for example, need often to be modelled. The initialization of these environments wherein evolve agents is generally tedious and time-co...

The multi-agent systems are successfully used in modeling of dynamic complex systems, and simulations of these models reinforce the knowledge of experts and even allow them to explore new horizons or to cross boundaries. This is the reason why the models being tackled are increasingly varied, and as one goes along with experimentations, these model...

This paper describes a model to represent human activities in farming systems based on the situated action theory. The idea is to consider the environment as an intelligent entity that has the ability to decide locally, at given time and space, the actions to perform. Surrogates of real actors, called actuators, just execute the actions dictated by...

In the last few years, the multiagent system’s paradigm has been more and more used in various fields, specially in the simulation field (MAS). Whenever a new application came into being and has been validated by its review board, specialists usually want to reuse it, fully or partially, in order to cut down the time and price of developing similar...

Emergent phenomena are often relevant for users and developers of simulation models. But the potential reification of these phenomena raises many questions, conceptually (should they be reified?) and technically (how to do it?). In this paper, we show that such a reification can be considered as an effective way to refine simulation models in which...

This paper proposes a model to represent and simulate human activities in farming systems. Our definition of the activity concept (otherwise said 'action') stems from the 'situated action' theory (Suchman, 1987). Action may be summarized simply as 'what people are actually doing'. Therefore, we characterize action according to four dimensions: acto...

In multiagent simulations, environment is considered to be a minor concern compared to agents’ behavior, which is the center of attention during the modeling process. Therefore environments are often basic, most of the times bounded or cyclical. Moreover, they are not detailed enough to support generalization of simulation results. Environment shou...

Coordination is defined as the management of dependencies between activities in order to reach an objective. These dependencies generally concern resource sharing and the compliance with temporal (simultaneity, precedence) and spatial constraints. This management is made according to two principal modes: explicit and implicit. The explicit mode is...

Multi-Agent Based Simulation (MABS) is a suitable way to simulate the dynamics of natural or social systems. In this paper, we present a new way to model agent and multi-agents systems (Mas). The modeling we introduce relies on the proposal of a MAS generic model, and a hybrid model of aptitudes supporting the specific agent's properties (autonomy, independence, adaptation). In addition to the formal description of the agent's particular features, the hyb...

Most of hybrid agent architectures are made by a hierarchical succession of a reactive (at a lower level) and a cognitive (at a higher level) layers. In a multi-agent system (MAS), agents preserve their proactivity and autonomy.
