Introduction
I'm mainly interested in plants systematics and taxonomy, with special focus on monocotyledons and the genus Carex. I'm currently working on my PhD about the Neotropical group Carex sect. Fecundae at Universidad de León (Spain). I study the taxonomy of this group using morphological and molecular tools.

Three new species of Carex sect. Fecundae (Cyperaceae) are described from Central America. Carex orothanatica from Costa Rica, Carex siguanabae occurring in El Salvador and Honduras, and Carex via-aquae from Costa Rica and Panama. The three new species are compared with relatives. Thanks to a wide morphologic study of material of Carex sect. Fecundae, we found out three new unnoticed species up to date from Central America. We present them here with high resolution photos that shows the main differences between them and their closest relatives.
