Introduction
Raphaela von Weichs currently works at the Institut de sciences sociales des religions contemporaines, University of Lausanne. As a Social and Cultural Anthropologist she is focusing on art, political activism, and religion, and also interested in the anthropology of healing. She is senior researcher of the ERC project 'ARTIVISM - Art and Activism. Creativity and Performance as Subversive Forms of Political Expression in Super-Diverse Cities'.
Her current research interest is in comics and cartoons as forms of political expression and communication in Africa and in transnational spaces.
She is using a variety of methods such as ethnography, graphic anthropology, audio-visual anthropology and field-crossing, a method developed by Monika Salzbrunn.
