Introduction
My interest is in the development of novel therapies to treat and prevent cancer. BMI1 is over-expressed in almost all cancers which leads to aberrant silencing of critical regulatory genes. In addition, BMI1 has a foundational role in DNA repair allowing cancer stem cells to repair damage from current therapies. BMI1 is also critical to the ability of cancer stem cells to metastasize and cause eventual death. We are developing treatments to prevent and reverse these critical changes.
