Mas Castellar se encuentra en el extremo oeste de la llanura del Empordà, al NE de Catalunya a pocos km de la fundación de la colonia focea de Empúries. la actividad agrícola y cerealista fue muy importante en la llanura en época ibérica. Pontós fue el principal núcleo para el control y distribución de los cereales.
Uno de los objetivos más importantes es el de documentar el número de asentamientos que se establecieron i organizaron en un mismo yacimiento, uno detrás de otro y a partir del yacimiento de Mas Castellar de Pontós comparar con otros yacimientos dentro de una época que va des finales del siglo VII hasta principios del s.II aC.
