Introduction
These days I'm researching the areas of HIV/AIDS activism, sexual health discourses, socio-cultural history of health and illness/disease, public health discourses and social infrastructure, and new biomedical technologies (PrEP, TasP, U=U). I wrote my PhD on contemporary left imaginaries. I have published articles on social change, postcapitalism, gender and queer studies, popculture, GBMSM sexual practices and public health.

The article outlines two modes of left intellectual and activist engagement with the concept of political economy and the economic realities of today. One common approach, so-called “politics of empire,” thinks the world as structured by capitalism and subjectivities crafted by its political and social processes, while an alternative one, that is,...

The article, “Beyond ‘Safer Sex’ – Bareback and the Fetishisation of Unprotected Sex,” is a critical genealogy of the Western gay post-subculture of barebacking, which emerged during the 90s as a reaction to the pathologization of non-normative sexual practices in the public discourse of HIV/AIDS prevention as well as the heteronormativization of t...

Conference Paper

This article argues that if an alliance between the Left and the LGBTQ movement is to be real and operational, it must be worked out, rather than pressupposed, via a thorough rethinking of the political as such, of its axioms, goals and ethical frameworks.

The article is an attempt to critically investigate, from the perspective of queer politics and postmodern philosophy, some of the linguistic strategies and political and social tools which Polish gay and lesbian organizations utilize to culturally emancipate "gay” and "lesbian” identities and to legitimize them in the social and legal realities. T...

InterAlia, https://interalia.queerstudies.pl/en/, a peer-edited scholarly journal for queer theory, is open to submissions from a wide range of fields, written in English, Spanish or Polish. Among the issues we hope our contributors will address is the translatability of queer concepts across cultural and linguistic borders; the relationship between queer theory and activism; the possibility of reconciling the different positionings within the queer community that are related to such factors as gender, race, class, age, sexual practices, and geographical location; the relevance of queer studies for understanding the discourses, cultural practices, and institutions that surround us; and the potential of queer as a counterdiscourse or counterpractice. InterAlia is an Open Access journal, which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author, provided the original author and source are credited.
