Introduction
I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) based in Paris, France. My latest publication has been featured in "Nature Scientific Reports" journal, entitled "Thermodynamical framework for effective mitigation of high aerosol loading in the Indo‑Gangetic Plain during winter" (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-023-40657-w).

The Indo-Gangetic Plain (IGP) has high wintertime fine aerosol loadings that significantly modulate the widespread fog formation and sustenance. Here, we investigate the potential formation of secondary inorganic aerosol driven by excess ammonia during winter fog. Physicochemical properties of fine aerosols (PM1 and PM2.5) and trace gases (HCl, HON...

The Indo-Gangetic Plain (IGP) experiences severe air pollution every winter, with ammonium chloride and ammonium nitrate as the major inorganic fractions of fine aerosols. Many past attempts to tackle air pollution in the IGP were inadequate, as they targeted a subset of the primary pollutants in an environment where the majority of the particulate...

This paper discusses the newly developed Decision Support System version 1.0 (DSS v1.0) for air quality management activities in Delhi, India. In addition to standard air quality forecasts, DSS provides the contribution of Delhi, its surrounding districts, and stubble-burning fires in the neighboring states of Punjab and Haryana to the PM2.5 load i...

The presence of persistent heavy fog in northern India during winter creates hazardous situations for transportation systems and disrupts the lives of about 400 million people. The meteorological factors responsible for its genesis and predictability are not yet completely understood in this region. Given its high potential for socio-economic impac...

The Winter Fog Experiment (WiFEX) was an intensive field campaign conducted at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) Delhi, India, in the Indo-Gangetic Plain (IGP) during the winter of 2017–2018. Here, we report the first comparison in South Asia of high-temporal-resolution simulation of ammonia (NH3) along with ammonium (NH4+) and total NHx (...

Here, we report the first comparison in South Asia of the high temporal resolution measurements of NH3 along with water-soluble inorganic ions in PM2.5 (Cl...

This paper presents the comparative results of surface and satellite measurements made during the Phase 1 (25 March to 14 April), Phase 2 (15 April to 3 May) and Phase 3 (3 May to 17 May) of Covid-19 imposed lockdown periods of 2020 and those of the same locations and periods during 2019 over India. These comparative analyses are performed for Indi...

Comprehensive measurements were conducted to simultaneously monitor the trace gases (HCl, HONO, HNO3, SO2, and NH3) and inorganic chemical constituents (Cl-, NO3 -, SO42-, Na+, NH4+, K+, Ca2+, and Mg2+) of fine particulates (PM1 and PM2.5) at hourly resolution during the Winter Fog Experiment (WIFEX) field campaign, Delhi, India, for the winter per...

Elevated levels of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) during winter-time have become one of the most important environmental concerns over the Indo-Gangetic Plain (IGP) region of India, and particularly for Delhi. Accurate reconstruction of PM2.5, its optical properties, and dominant chemical components over this region is essential to evaluate the pe...

PURPOSE: Delhi region frequently receives fog of different intensity during winter (Dec-Feb) season. The peak months of dense and persistent fog occurrence over the Delhi region are December and January when temperature reaches to very low level and the frequency of Western Disturbance (WD), the only weather phenomenon causing rainfall over that r...

Data on mass concentration of PM2.5 and its carbonaceous and water soluble inorganic chemical ions were compiled through sampling of PM2.5 at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi during Dec. 16, 2015-Feb. 15, 2016 under Winter Fog Experiment (WIFEX) program of the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) and analysing the samples. The data so genera...

Physical characterisation of PM 2.5 , PM 10 and surface ozone measured during the period from 17 July to 21 August 2012 at four strategic locations in and around the Lumbini Protected Zone, Nepal, is done to assess air quality of the region and understand qualitatively source mechanisms of these pollutants. The measurement locations are Panditarama...

The objectives of the Winter Fog Experiment (WIFEX) over the Indo-Gangetic Plains of India are to develop better now-casting and forecasting of winter fog on various time- and spatial scales. Maximum fog occurrence over northwest India is about 48 days (visibility < 1000 m) per year, and it occurs mostly during the December-February time-period. Th...

Sampling of particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter cut off at 2.5 μm (PM2.5) has been carried out over a semi urban site of Pune and an urban site of Hyderabad. Analysis of elemental Carbon (EC) and Organic Carbon (OC) present in PM2.5 was carried out using advanced Desert Research Institute’s (DRI) Thermal/Optical Carbon Analyzer operated on...
