Background Several studies have demonstrated that brief interactions with natural environments can improve cognitive functioning. However, the neurocognitive processes that are affected by natural surroundings are not yet fully understood. It is argued that the “elements” in natural environment evoke “effortless” involuntary attention and may affec...

As popularly believed, the physical world has little or no role to play in a person’s spiritual progress or rather should not have any role in affecting a meditating mind. Yet the physical senses themselves, stimulated by the natural surroundings could lead man to attain higher consciousness. Interesting to note is that all world religions respect,...

It has been seen that interaction with natural environment inevitably yields corresponding states of conscious experiences through positively affecting our brain/cognition. (Selhub, Eva M and Logan,Alan C.2012). On the other hand, understanding how to optimize and improve the functioning of human consciousness (i.e powers of thinking, understanding...

As popularly believed, the physical world has little or no role to play in the progress of our spiritual consciousness or rather should not have any role in affecting a meditating mind. Question

Question
Human Consciousness is believed to be a property more associated with internalizing without much relation with physical environment according to eastern philosophy.
However the western science has established that environment plays a important role in positively affecting brain and cognition. Does that also means that natural environment can affect the  level of consciousness in humans?  the answer could lead to another interesting question whether consciousness is affected by optimal brain function?
