Treatment of Chronic Pain is a major public health challenge. Photobiomodulation (PBM) offers an innovative, multimodal analgesic solution (see table) through the use of red and infrared waves. The primary effect is an improvement in ATP production by the mitochondria. A significant anti-inflammatory effect is observed, reducing levels of inflammat...
Pain in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is paradoxical in this disease of the upper and lower motor neurons. As such, it remains an underestimated and neglected clinical problem because it is poorly identified by physicians, its mechanisms are numerous and its treatments are generally not effective. Pain may be primary in the form of cramps, sp...
The efficacy of rTMS in the treatment of chronic neuropathic pain is maintain...
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Chronic Pain and Hypnosis
Locoregional analgesia is a set of therapeutic modalities proposed in some chronic pain situations. The objectives of this formalized recommendation are to validate the value of locoregional analgesia techniques in terms of efficacy, benefits and risks for the patient. On the other hand, it makes it possible to specify their place within the other...
Hypnotic trance generates a near state of general anesthesia : sedation or anesthesia, painful change perceptions or analgesia, immobility or hypotonia. These clinical findings allow the use of hypnosis as an alternative to general anesthesia when performing colonoscopies.
Ericksonian Hypnosis is a therapeutic tool which gives evidence of interesting results in the treatment of headaches. After advice, the technique is suggested to the patient who accept to follow the prescriptions of the therapist. Hypnosis, besisdes their antalgic aspects, help patients to engage a reflection about their symptoms. We recall the cas...

Dear Colleagues,
For those who use this technique, would you be kind to tell me which kind of laser acupuncture device you use (brand name and type of device) and what are the reasons for your choice?
Thank you and have a nice day

Dear Colleagues,
I often use Dry Needling (DN) to treat Myofascial Syndrome with is very frequent in Chronic Pain.
Some of the patients are treated with acetylsalicylic acid (ASA).
Is this condition a problem to use DN?
Thank you and have a nice day

Dear Readers,
Do you have an experience with High Level Laser Therapy (about 10 to 13 W) to treat Chronic MusculoSkeletal Pain? - Thank You - Ph. Rault MD - France
One of my patients complains with pain of the right free border of the tongue. Pain is reduced by self-massage of a very sensitive point as it was a trigger point.
Tongue is a muscle, so is it possible to have trigger point in that specific muscle?
Dry needling is a well-known technique used to treat muscle trigger points responsible for myofascial pain. Each puncture produces a muscle lesion and the trigger point (normally) improves.
What happens during the healing: recovering with normal muscle tissue, scars, ...?
Can repeated punctures be deleterious?
A lot is written about Low Level Laser Therapy and chronic pain. HELT seems to be more effective to treat Myofascial Trigger Points.
Any opinion about that PhotoBioModulation (PBM) technique?
Thanks!
Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) seems to be effective to treat musculoskeletal pain. Do you have any scientific informations: indications, mechanisms, long term safety. Thanks!
Hello,
Does anyone have a technique to know if a trigger point is a primary one or satellite (secondary). Are some myofascial trigger points more often secondary than primary?
Thanks a lot - Phil from Dijon (Burgundy - France)
