I worked in innate immunity and tissue injury after mesenteric ischemia/reperfusion. My focus was on the role of platelets in local (mesenteric) and remote tissue damage. Prior to this I worked on the immunology of burn injury and focused on the immunomodulatory role of platelets in the host response to burns. Prior to my platelet work, I worked in autoimmune diabetes where I characterized macrophages and TNFa, and on endothelial cells in transplant biology. This allowed me to develop my niche.
