The paper presents the development process of an innovative, prefabricated compact house, which aims at creating a net zero greenhouse gas emission building design over the whole life cycle. Building Information Modelling helped to quantify the required building materials. Dynamic building simulations were performed in DesignBuilder to calculate th...
The energy performance directive mandates that all new buildings in Europe shall be "nearly zero energy" buildings. New, innovative solutions have arisen both on the demand and on the supply side of the market that aim at much more ambitious energy and environmental performance levels than nearly zero at an affordable price. The basic principle of...
The paper examines a public building constructed of partially natural materials and two imagined buildings with the same geometry, using LCC and LCA methods, with self-developed software. The imagined buildings were designed using the building materials and building mechanical systems commonly used in Hungary which fulfil the relevant energetic req...
The paper introduces the planning and construction experiences and development ideas of additional insulation of walls made from straw-bale. The energetic refurbishment of existing building is an important priority in the action plan of the EU dealing with the energy efficiency. The additional insulation of walls reduces significantly the energy de...
Recent national and international building regulations on the energy performance of buildings focus mainly on the reduction of operational energy. This can be achieved by increasing the energy efficiency of the building, installing highly efficient building service systems and applying renewable energy sources. However, these measures have a price...
WHY HAVE COME INTO THE LIMELIGHT THE EARTH ARCHITECTURE? During the history of humanity developed rightly an idea about, that the raw materials and energy sources, which are the basis of economy, are boundless and for this reason they are available for free or for very low prize. Of course we could rightly think this way as long as we only used rep...
