Publications
Publications (31)
Process baths used for electropolishing and pickling of stainless steel have become increasingly contaminated with heavy metal ions over time. There is still lack of research on the neutralization of this type of technological wastewater with high concentrations of metal ions and containing complexing compounds, which significantly hinders their ef...
The use of materials of natural origin for the adsorption of heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions has gained attention in recent years among the scientific community. This is explained by the fact that nickel compounds, due to severe health consequences, are considered to be among the most dangerous to the environment. This article reviews the r...
Electrochemical metal processing is a process that generates harmful pollution. An important goal often disregarded by researchers is not only the achievement of the best possible quality of electropolished surface, but also minimising the load of metal ions in the wastewater generated in the process. The conducted experiments on the electropolishi...
Improvement of the corrosion resistance capability, surface roughness, shining of stainless-steel surface elements after electrochemical polishing (EP) is one of the most important process characteristics. In this paper, the mechanism, obtained parameters, and results were studied on electropolishing of stainless-steel samples based on the review o...
Terconazole belongs to synthetic triazole antifungal agents, inhibiting biosynthesis of ergosterol or other sterols and thus disrupting cell wall synthesis in fungi. In this study, electrochemical behavior of terconazole was studied for the first time using cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry on boron doped diamond electrode (BDD)...
The amount of industrial pollution entering the environment and its impact on living organisms is an ongoing concern. At the same time, due to an increasing awareness, new methods of wastewater treatment are being explored that are not only effective but also environmentally acceptable. Meeting environmental standards for permitted concentrations i...
This research investigates the long-term environmental impact and historical temporal
pollution patterns caused by a former copper mine in Iwiny (south-western Poland) using a dendrochemical approach. An additional aspect of this research was considering the possibility of using the inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES)...
The use of natural materials for wastewater treatment is a rapidly evolving issue. Natural materials are often lowcost or waste materials, and they are readily available. In the case of industrial wastewater treatment, the use of natural sorbents for the removal of heavy metals has shown positive results for many of the materials tested. However, t...
This publication presents a comparison of the content of pollutants in groundwater samples taken at 117 measurement points in four regions of Poland during a drought period and in the reference period without drought. Based on the chemical analyses of water, an assessment of the health risk resulting from the use of underground water for consumptio...
Transposing the process scale from laboratory to industrial conditions is a difficult issue that applies to many sectors of the industry. As far as electropolishing of stainless steel is concerned, the limitations connected with a significant increase in the area of electropolished surface should be considered, along with the possibility of defects...
Austenitic chromium-nickel steels 304 (1.4301) and 304L (1.4306 and
1.4307) have been used for many years to build technological devices
in water and sewage treatment plants or pumping stations. These
steels can be corrosive in aqueous environments with a high content of
hydrogen sulphide and periodically increased chloride concentrations.
The pape...
Purpose
This paper aims to present the way of modifying surfaces of 316L stainless steel elements that were manufactured in the selected laser melting (SLM) technology and then subjected to mechanical and electrolytic processing (electropolishing [EP]). The surface of the as-generated and commercial produced parts was modified by grinding and EP, a...
Continuous development of stainless steel technology forced by the increase in the growing demands on the operating parameters of various stainless steel alloys, is the motivation for implementation of research for understanding the complexity of electrochemical processes ongoing on the surface of a material during various technological processes a...
Dissolved organic carbon (DOC) is a sum parameter that is frequently used in water analytics. Highly resolved and accurate DOC data are necessary, for instance, for water quality monitoring and for the evaluation of the efficiency of treatment processes. The conventional DOC determination methods consist of on-site sampling and subsequent analysis...
Long-term exploitation of industrial electropolishing baths may contribute to the emergence of surface defects and may limit the range of applicable current densities. Due to this, extending the time of use of industrial baths is a major challenge. The application of electrochemical reduction in the process of reduction industrial baths enabled to...
In this work, a novel method of selecting the most favourable electropolishing (EP) conditions is presented as a compromise between the processing time and obtaining the lowest possible roughness value of Sa or Sq (commonly used parameters) as well as the gradual increase of parameters highlighted in this work Ssk and Sku. The results showed that t...
The influence of organic additives on the process of surface electropolishing of AISI 304 type steel was determined. Additives were selected in initial potentiodynamic tests pursuant to the plateau analysis on the current/potential curves. The assessment of the operational effectiveness of additives consisted in determining the relationship between...
Electrochemical behavior as a basis for voltammetric detection of the priority environmental pollutant 4-chloro-3-methylphenol (PCMC) on a bare boron-doped diamond electrode using DC voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry, and square-wave voltammetry is presented. PCMC provides a well-defined and highly reproducible oxidation peak in the regio...
The com. and innovative B-doped diamond electrodes, based on Nb and SiC-graphite substrates, resp., were used sep. as anodes in lab. equipment for studying the degrdn. of dissolved org. C (DOC) contained in solns. of KH phthalate. The initial DOC concn. (DOC0) was 10-1000 mg/L. The degrdn. kinetics was of pseudo-first order. The DOC/DOC0 ratio was...
Celem opracowania jest przedstawienie metody oceny ryzyka zagrożenia życia i zdrowia ludzi w rejonie wystąpienia awarii w transporcie amoniaku, poprzez wyznaczenie stref zagrożenia toksycznym dzia- łaniem par amoniaku. Analizowane ryzyko odnosi się głównie do narażenia inhalacyjnego, które może wystąpić na skutek uwolnienia do atmosfery dużej ilośc...
Monolithic and spatial samples of Ti-6Al-7Nb alloy were prepared by powder-bed selective laser melting and treated in HF and HF+HNO3 baths to improve surface quality and remove loose powder particles trapped in the porous structure of the samples. The HF+HNO3-contg. bath was more efficient (better surface quality, shorter treatment time) than the H...
