The generation of text reports from numerical and symbolic data is getting the attention of many researchers. This paper presents an R package useful to develop computational systems able to generate linguistic descriptions of complex phenomena. It generates text reports from numerical and symbolic data related to the phenomena under consideration....
Automatic linguistic description of the available data about complex phenomena is a challenging task that is receiving the attention of data scientists in recent years. As an evolution of previous research results, there is a need of creating new linguistic computational models that allow us dealing with more complex phenomena and more complex desc...
The increased demand of systems able to generate reports in natural language from numerical data involves the search for new solutions. This paper presents an adaptation of standard Natural Language Generation methodologies to generate customized linguistic descriptions of data. Namely, we merge one of the most well-known architectures in the Natur...
In highly connected world, the volume and variety of data is growing and growing. The Big Data era
opens new challenges to address. Dealing with Big Data, we have identified and analyzed seven issues: (1)
scalability, (2) efficient processing, (3) incomplete and inaccurate data, (4) specific domains, (5) relevance
of information, (6) levels of deta...
Purpose
– The purpose of this paper is to improve and facilitate the work of developers and usability evaluators by providing an adaptable and effective support. A well-defined set of criteria and a range of evaluation values for each criterion as well as a complete websites classification, will guide evaluators. A usability percentage and a list o...
We explore the possible benefit that provides a linguistic approach to Big Data. The proposal illustrates how implement Linguistic Aggregation Functions using the MapReduce paradigm. The best known paradigm applied to Big Data. The proposal allows several benefits to Big Data e.g., it allows to interpret data in a more intuitive way, reduce data si...
The Java 7 platform includes the invokedynamic opcode in its virtual machine, a feature that lets programmers define, and dynamically change, the linkage of method call sites and thereby maintain platform optimizations. The authors developed a library that lets developers use this new JVM feature, present a comprehensive evaluation of its performan...
inProfilePhoto performs a seemingly simple task but really hard for people with visual disabilities, such as taking a profile photo correctly framed. It interacts in real-time with the user through linguistic commands related to the movements he/she has to perform in order to get framed. When the user hears the instruction, he/she is expected to re...
Java 7 has included the new invokedynamic opcode in the Java virtual machine. This new instruction allows the user to define method linkage at runtime. Once the link is established, the virtual machine performs its common optimizations, providing better runtime performance than reflection. However, this feature has not been offered at the abstracti...
This work was grounded in the idea that the user should not be a simple data summaries recipient, and explores the possibilities of building interpretable fuzzy control systems with human-in-the-loop. For this purpose, fuzzy computational perceptions are embedded in a highly interpretable linguistic granular model. The generated model customized vo...
