Research objectives:
To understand the household decision making journey of single use plastics
To understand possible intervention points in the household decision making journey for achieving SDG12.
In considering ethical consumerism an issue which has been less
well explored is the gendering of household roles and decisions,
and how role in a household relates to tackling the prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse of plastics in a sustainable way.
We argue that to achieve SDG 12, we need to understand the household decision making journey of products entering and leaving the household sphere and how engaging the household decision maker (s) could effect change.
We had intended to use design thinking workshops as part of our data collection however we have had to change our approach. How we did that is explained elsewhere by Dr. Danielle Tucker.
