Vacuum circuit breakers have an issue of unstable current chopping phenomenon when the current is cut off. We modeled the cathode spot that ignores transition region in the collisionless sheath and collisional plasma region using eight equations with silver and copper electrode materials which presents low ionization tendency, and performed dichotomous simulation. The result showed that the changes in the work function at ambient temperature did not have great influence on the arc stability limit current both in the silver electrode and copper electrode. On contrary, the changes in the heat conductivity at ambient temperature affected greatly the arc stability limit current both in the silver and copper electrodes. Furthermore, we found out that the copper electrode showed unstable current phenomenon where no cathode spot is observed in the cathode ion sheath when the copper electrode is energized with current of 25A.
