Introduction
Broadly speaking, I am interested in how self-regulatory processes, such as self-control or emotion regulation, moderate social cognition. One of my objectives is to use social cognition theory to create cognitive remediation procedures and prevention programs targeting addictive behaviours. I am also interested in the psychology of politically motivated behaviour and developing integrative theoretical models of processes studied in social cognition through the neurophysiology of stress.

Background: Experimental studies investigating the impact of advertising with ecological stimuli on alcohol-related cognition are scarce. This research investigated the cognitive processes involved in learning implicit attitudes toward alcohol after incidental exposure to alcohol advertisements presented in a dynamic context. We hypothesized that...

Right-wing authoritarianism (RWA) and social dominance orientation (SDO) both predict generalized prejudice, dehumanization, intergroup discrimination, oppression, and violence, right-wing political party preference and generally punitive attitudes. Authoritarian attitudes have been theorized to involve maladaptive emotional, cognitive and social s...

Cognitive Bias Modification (CBM) refers to a family of interventions targeting substance-related cognitive biases, which have been found to play a role in the maintenance of addictive behaviors. In this study, we conducted a Bayesian meta-analysis of individual patient data from studies investigating the effects of CBM as a behavior change interve...

Since implicit attitudes (i.e. evaluations occurring outside of complete awareness) are highly predictive of alcohol consumption, we tested an evaluative learning procedure based on repeated pairing to a critical stimulus (i.e. alcohol, the CS) with a valenced stimulus (the US) in order to modify implicit attitudes (i.e. evaluative conditioning; EC...

Organic certification identifies food produced with more sustainable product methods. However, several studies have pointed out that it is also likely to generate a halo effect on the caloric estimation of food. As a result, unhealthy foods are perceived as containing fewer calories and may lead to increased consumption intentions. The aim of this...

Literature shows that intolerance of uncertainty can negatively affect the medical decision-making process of healthcare professionals. However, there are no tools for measuring intolerance of uncertainty in French, so this study aimed to validate the Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale-12 (IUS- 12) in French, and a version of the IUS-12 adapted for h...

Objectives Anti-tobacco campaigns often suffer from a lack of systematic evaluation and may not always have the intended impact on the target population. Our research adopted immersive virtual reality (iVR) to systematically evaluate preventive anti-tobacco messages in a controlled setting while mimicking a naturalistic and ecological environment....

Background: Burnout is an occupational phenomenon that arises from the unsuccessful management of chronic job stress. Accurate measures of burnout are vital for the implementation of effective interventions. However, existing tools, such as the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory (CBI), have demonstrated variability...

The medical environment is prone to diagnostic errors, which can have serious consequences for patients' health status. However, healthcare professionals (HCPs) are often overconfident in their choices. In this context, there is a growing interest in the influence of variables that may negatively influence the reasoning of HCPs, namely intolerance...

This chapter delves into the critical role of implicit associations in addiction, focusing on their influence on the development, persistence, and relapse of addictive behaviors. We explore various methods for measuring these associations, with a particular emphasis on the Implicit Association Test (IAT), and evaluate its efficacy and limitations....

Evaluative conditioning (EC) appears when a neutral conditioned stimulus (CS) is repeatedly paired with a positive or negative unconditioned stimulus (US). Most studies on EC have focused on the influence of procedural factors (e.g., number of presentations) and awareness, while emotional factors have been understudied. However, literature shows th...

The COVID-19 pandemic illustrated that intolerance of uncertainty (IU) can hinder problem-solving and lead to avoidance of ambiguous situations. Furthermore, people tend to lack confidence in decisions made in ambiguous contexts. Need for uniqueness represents the need for people to feel different and distinguish themselves from others. Two major scales exist that measure this need: the Need for Uniqueness scale (NfU; Snyder & Fromkin, 1977) and the Self-Attributed Need for Uniqueness scale (SANU; Lynn & Harris, 1997). We propose here a French version of both scales. Throug...

Regulatory focus (Higgins, 1997) and self-determination (Deci & Ryan, 2000) are two motivation theories widely applied in health intervention research but never conjointly, despite sharing a number of theoretical similarities.
