In this study crude extracts of Turbinaria decurrens, Padina pavonica, Sargassum muticum and Sargassum acinarium (Phaeophyta); Ulva lactuca (Chlorophyta) and Pterocladia capillacea (Rhodophyta) seaweeds were tested to evaluate their antioxidant properties and antidiabetic potential on α-amylase and α-glucosidase starch hydrolyzing enzymes. The resu...
Microalgae are rich sources of structurally novel and biologically active metabolites. Primary and secondary metabolites produced by these organisms which have drawn interest of the pharmaceutical industries. In this regard, the study aimed to screening of phytochemical compounds and evaluate the total phenolic content and the antioxidant activity...
The study evaluated different extracts of Spirulina platensis using acetone, methanol, ethanol as well as water solvents for their antioxidant and antidiabetic potential. The results showed that all S. platensis extracts exhibited antioxidant activity by using DPPH (2, 2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl), reducing power and total antioxidant capacity assa...
Upon Seeking natural and safe alternatives for synthetic medicines to treat many chronic diseases, seaweeds have offered a promising resource to produce numerous bioactive secondary metabolites. Through in vivo investigations, Turbinaria decurrens acetone extract (AE) revealed its anti-diabetic activity against alloxan-induced diabetic rats. Treatm...
The oleaginous genera Nannochloropsis and Microchloropsis are recognized for their lipid accumulation capacity. Microalgal lipid accumulation is triggered by nitrogen starvation, negatively affecting photosynthesis and growth. Moreover, light and temperature play pivotal roles in microalgal physiology, lipid accumulation and composition. This study...
Currently, algae arouse a growing interest in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic area due to the fact that they have a great diversity of bioactive compounds with the potential for pharmacological and nutraceutical applications. Due to lifestyle modifications brought on by rapid urbanization, diabetes mellitus, a metabolic illness, is the third larges...
Currently, algae arouse a growing interest in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic area due to the fact that they have a great diversity of bioactive compounds with the potential for pharmacological, cosmetic, and nutraceutical applications. Many of these bioactive compounds are secondary metabolites whose amounts in the algae vary with varying environm...
In this study different crude extracts of two microalgae Spirulina
platensis (Cyanobacteria), Chlorella vulgaris (Chlorophyta) and six different
seaweeds vis Turbinaria decurrens, Padina pavonica, Sargassum muticum
and Sargassum acinarium (Phaeophyta); Ulva lactuca (Chlorophyta) as well
as Pterocladia capillacea (Rhodophyta) were tested to evaluate...

I am trying to cultivate fresh water microalgae in BG11 medium but I have difficulties to grow at light intensity 150, it can grow only at 45 μE m−2 s−1.
So, anyone have any idea about I should to do to let it grow at high light intensity?
I am studying alpha amylase inhibitory activity o. While performing bioassay I have observed that the solid form of enzyme after putting into 0.02 M phosphate buffer (containing 0.006 M NaCL) pH 6.9 does not showed clear solution. It indicate that it is not completely dissolved in the buffer.
therefore will not be able to measure the antioxidant activity to these solvent extract ?
