Introduction
Olivier Genest has more than 15 years of experience in ICT for smart energy systems (smart metering, smart grid, RES integration, flexibility, EV integration …), focusing on system architecture and digital transformation (incl. interoperability, cybersecurity and data management). At European level, he is the Chairperson of the BRIDGE working group on Data Management. Also involved in international standardization, he is co-Convenor of IEC SyC Smart Energy JWG3 "Smart Energy Roadmap".

This document addresses the concept of a Common European Energy Data Space (CEEDS), providing detailed approaches and recommendations for its real-world realization. In particular, the main objective of this blueprint is to guide on enhancing the existing data infrastructures, in the energy domain, towards the full embracement of data space solutio...

Smart grid interoperability is the means to achieve the twin green and digital transition but re-mains heterogeneous and fragmented to date. This work presents the first ideas and corner-stones of an Interoperability Roadmap for the Energy Transition that is being developed by the Horizon Europe int:net project. This roadmap builds on four cornerst...
Conference Paper
By proposing load shifting, charging Electric Vehicles can provide flexibility to grid operators. However, the prediction of the charging process' time and duration as well as the size of the batteries are challenges to overcome to guarantee the flexibility provision and to have a meaningful impact for system services. One solution is to consider a...
Conference Paper
This study offers an overview of the H2020 InterConnect project, which targets the relation between smart homes and distribution grids. The project vision is to produce a digital marketplace, using an interoperable marketplace toolbox and Smart appliances REference Ontology (SAREF) compliant Internet of Things (IoT) reference architecture as the ma...
Conference Paper
Interoperability is a key feature of digitalized energy systems. Significant high shares of volatile renewables require the wide use of system flexibilities from controllable generation and dedicated storage to load management. In an electricity system with separate roles for grid operation and energy retail, the activation of flexibilities can be...
Conference Paper
In the European demonstration Project InterFLEX, five different demonstration sites are realized with a focus on flexibility services from energy generation and demand. The use of flexibility for grid and generation-supply balance management is a key factor in renewable-based electricity systems. However, the way such flexibility services are activ...
Conference Paper
This paper takes an ecosystem perspective in approaching security and data protection for the internet of things. It first provides a rationale on the need to consider ecosystems. It then explains the impact of security and privacy at the lifecycle level. It then elaborates on the need to take an integration approach taking into account all non-fun...
Conference Paper
TRIALOG has developed a G3-PLC simulator, based on ns-3. This simulator has been used to perform a comparison of network performances between several cyber-security protocols and mechanisms in a smart metering system. Four reference distribution networks, six smart metering use-cases and three metrics have been modelled in the simulator to compare...
