Grupo de Investigación evaluado positivamente por la Agencia Nacional de Evaluación y Prospectiva (ANEP). La alimentación ha comenzado a ser un asunto de debate público en las sociedades desarrolladas. A pesar de la casi inexistencia de problemas ligados a la falta de alimentos ha crecido la preocupación por lo que se come. Por este motivo, las Ciencias Sociales se han aproximado a la alimentación y sus cambios en relación directa con la modernización de las sociedades. En este contexto nace el Grupo de Sociología de la Alimentación creado en el año 2000 e integrado en 2009 en el Campus de Excelencia Internacional (Clúster de Biomedicina y Salud). El grupo está dirigido por Cecilia Díaz-Méndez, catedrática de Sociología y consta de siete miembros de la Universidad de Oviedo y seis investigadores de otras universidades españolas. El objetivo principal del grupo de investigación es describir y analizar las tendencias de cambio alimentario y los condicionantes sociales a los que están sujetos los hábitos alimentarios en las sociedades modernas. Se pretende profundizar en los determinantes y las consecuencias de estos cambios y analizar cómo afecta el proceso de modernización de las sociedades a la alimentación y la salud de la población. En la actualidad el grupo cuenta con un equipo formado por investigadores de universidades españolas con tradición en el estudio de la alimentación, el consumo y la salud, todos con perspectiva social pero con diferentes aproximaciones: a unos les caracteriza el estudio del ámbito de la producción y los sistemas agroalimentarios, otros proceden de la ciencia política o de la economía, otros se han centrado en el estudio del consumo o las dinámicas seguidas por las empresas agroalimentarias y casi todos han desarrollado estudios microsociales sobre el cambio social y la desigualdad. La perspectiva de género impregna una buena parte de los trabajos, así como también la investigación histórica, ambas orientaciones constituyen dos soportes básicos de análisis e interpretación sobre los que construimos nuestras investigaciones empíricas. Una prioridad para el grupo es realizar estudios comparados sobre los hábitos alimentarios en diferentes países y analizar las acciones políticas en un contexto de gobernanza global alimentaria. Esto nos ha llevado a completar el equipo con investigadores de fuera de España en cada una de las investigaciones que desarrollamos. Contamos con un Observatorio Sociológico de la Alimentación como instrumento de investigación al servicio de los trabajos del grupo. Esto nos ofrece la oportunidad de responder a las demandas de empresas e instituciones en las áreas que afectan a la cadena agroalimentaria. La doctora Isabel García Espejo es la coordinadora de este servicio que se apoya en el sistema CATI (Computer-assisted telephones intervierwing) y CAWI (Computer aided web interverwing) del Departamento de Sociología. In this project we are implementing different techniques of active learning in Economics Higher Education modules. Concretely, we use Flipped Classroom and technology supported collaborative learning to promote students actively engaged in their own learning.
