Introduction
PhD in Environmental Geography - Forest Dynamic in Southern Chile (LUCC and prospective modeling). My research interest is to understand the relationship between society (from individual behavior to public policies) and environment. I have an interest in animal ethics with a critical humanimal geographical perspective.

Veganism is a protean movement with a certain radicality that is involved in questioning the relationship between humans and non-humans. Such questioning reinforces the hypercomplexity of the social sphere, especially considering environmental and climate change in the Anthropocene era. In what way is a humanimal geography that takes into account a...

The Ituri-Epulu-Aru landscape (IEAL) is experiencing deforestation and forest degradation. This deforestation is at the root of many environmental disturbances in a region characterized by endemism in biodiversity. The importance of this article is to provide useful information for those who wish to discuss a model that can be replicated for other...

The Mornag plain-which is dominated by a mountain, Jebel Ressass-has been exploited for various uses for millennia. There are still huge slag heaps around the old lead mines at the foot of the mountain. Olive trees are cropped intensively in the plain, although this agriculture is threatened by the expansion of the suburbs of Tunis nearby. The mapp...

The Babagulu forest region here concerns the Babagulu Forest Reserve (BFR) and its periphery. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, the forest region of Babagulu is under anthropogenic pressure, notably due to its proximity to the city of Kisangani. These anthropic pressures remain little documented and their impacts on this forest landscape remain...

The double colonization of the Northern Ecuadorian Amazon, coming from the Southern Amazon but mainly from the Coast and Sierra, has multiplied perceptions, rights, and management methods in this territory. This article explores these differences and reconstructs the history of this colonization and the rights of access to land, which are private f...

The evaluation of deforestation by optical remote sensing remains a challenge in the humid tropical region due to high cloud cover. This paper develops a simple and reproducible method for mapping deforestation of the old-growth forest using open access software. A map of old-growth forest depletion was created using composites from three different...

Since the 1970s, the northern part of the Amazonian region of Ecuador has been colonized with the support of intensive oil extraction that has opened up roads and supported the settlement of people from Out-side Amazonia. These dynamics have caused important forest cuttings but also regular oil leaks and spills, con-taminating both soil and water....

As a true laboratory of neoliberalism in South America, Chile has experienced profound and brutal socioeconomic and environmental disruptions exacerbated by the state violence of the military government of Augusto Pinochet. As the global population increases (9 billion by 2050), the result will be an increase in demand for food from agriculture and intensive farming. The State of Food and Agriculture report (FAO, 2014) clearly shows the limits of the intensive agricultural system for its impact on land degradation, water resources and atmosphere. On the socio-economic...

Southern Chile forest cover represents a major environmental issue. The native forest, integrated into the Valvidian Ecoregion (35°S-48°S), belongs to ecosystems with the highest conservation priority in the world. Question
A colleague is interested in the problem of mega-fires. If there are scientific papers for the United States, Australia or France, there is little research for South America. In France, a mega fire can be identified from 1,000 ha, in the United States or Australia from 10,000 ha.
Are there any studies in South America (e.g. Chile)?
Are there objective criteria for defining a mega fire?
Many thanks!

The overall goal of this project is to analyze and map deforestation in the Ituri-Epulu-Aru landscape. It will also be used to study the transformation processes of landscape units associated with deforestation and deforestation trajectories, to model the influence of spatially explicit causes of deforestation over the observation period and to simulate deforestation on the basis of deadlines. +5, t + 10, t + 15, t + 20, t + 25 and t + 30, from 2018.
