ABSTRACT For Vietnam, research on value chain analysis in general has been noticed after 2000, especially when the Asian Development Bank implemented a series of studies of the Project to Improve Market Performance for the poor. The above studies have analyzed the value chain in general and the seafood value chain in particular in different aspects. Therefore, to develop Sustainable seafood value chain should provide specific solutions towards improving results and efficiency not only for each participant but also the entire seafood value chain. And this is also a new, highly topical issue for Binh Thuan in general and the fisheries sector in particular requires research to clarify. Starting from the above practice, in order to solve the above problems, the author conducted this research. The author chose Binh Thuan because it is a province with great potential for exploitation and fishing grounds, the two previous authors did in Vietnam as Khanh Hoa and Kien Giang about the value chain, the new point of the author's research is with the participation of state agencies/officer (from step by step, level by level: town/ward, district, province of official government and fish sauce processing companies (output of anchovies) and associated with opportunities and challenges of the fish sauce market (focusing on local traditional fish sauce, and compared with industrial fish sauce, there is an objective view because the author is not a native of Binh Thuan, that is advantages and disadvantages). Research results contribute to support and will be a basis for managers and policy makers to build and propose effective management solutions, build linkages between stages in the chain. In addition, rational distribution of profit among participants to contribute to sustainable protection of anchovy resources and brand promotion of products processed from anchovy harvested in Binh Thuan under conditions of economic integration (international economy). With the results of the research, the readers can understand the value chain of anchovies, the factors in the chain and the analysis of environmental factors and challenges the matrix SWOT applied to the Vietnamese fish sauce (especially the traditional fish sauce market). Thereby, it is recommended to propose practical proposals for enterprises and state agencies from research results with strategies and directions to develop the implications for chain management and market development. In addition, the social meaning that the project brings is to understand and analyze the benefits of sustainable value chains, thereby contributing to adjusting the rate of help for fishermen who have a better ecological development system. The management aspect of the topic is the participation of state agencies, fish sauce production companies (output for anchovies’ industry), helping them to link more economically and economically. Through the project, there will be an analysis and synthesis view of a small counterpart in the Binh Thuan fishery industry. Keyword: anchovy, value-added, value chain, fish sauce, Binh Thuan.
