Es werden zwei neue Methoden zur Darstellung von flachen, scheibenähnlichen Molekülen, den Titelverbindungen (II), von denen neue mesomorphe Eigenschaften erwartet werden, vorgeschlagen.

Ausgehend von den Benzol-Derivaten (I), (IV) bzw. (VII) werden nach angegebenen Reihenfolgen die Stilbene (III), (VI) bzw. (XI) synthetisiert.

Die Titelverbindung (I) kann von nucleophilen Reagenzien an zwei Stellen angegriffen werden.
