Digital media addiction limits face-to-face communication, which can have negative effects on the subjective wellbeing of individuals. However, the effect of digital media addiction on subjective wellbeing has not been adequately explored, and it is recommended in the literature that the role of mediating variables related to social life should be...

The duplication of semantic data modelled in different disciplines poses interoperability challenges. Information models that benefit from the application of standards that enable data reusability and prevent redundancy and misuse should be compatible, particularly when different systems are used in the same domain-specific area, as in the case of...

Problematic mobile phone use can be related to negative mental states. Some studies indicate that behavioural dependency is related to variables associated with the country of origin. The aim of our study was to investigate if country indicators moderated the relationship between phubbing and psychological distress. Our sample consisted of 7,315 in...

The importance of the detailed BIM for buildings like the free-form building in our case cannot be emphasized enough in case of automated and especially additive manufacturing. Integral design of all building accessories like internal heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), water supply, and drainage network installations is essential wh...

Building Information Modelling (BIM) has become accepted as an approach that should deliver substantial gains to all the stakeholders within the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. Recently, several researchers have pointed out the need for cultural changes as a necessary step for radically transforming the industry. In order...

This paper addresses those issues relating to the integration of information flows in relation to material management throughout the construction industry supply-chain. Based on a case study, it shows how to bridge any gaps between those information systems used within the design, prefabrication, and on-site construction processes. The information...

This paper presents the outcomes of a research and development project carried out at the University of Maribor, Construction IT Centre, with regard to the introduction of a building information model (BIM) and a model based construction process into the operational environment of a construction company. The initiative for the project came from the...

Monitoring of building process activities is the basis for effective control and management of a building project. In its traditional way it is, however, time consuming, inaccurate and expensive. To improve the monitoring process researchers are investigating methods to automate monitoring and support project managers with accurate and timely infor...

Building activities are inadequately monitored during construction projects when attempting to satisfy the need for information, especially in those cases of unforeseen events and conditions on-site. Many IT-supported methods have been introduced, but so far none has been able to deliver satisfactory and reliable information. This paper presents a...

Product modeling is not a new technology any more, but its use in construction industry is still very rare, even more in the area of road design, construction and maintenance. The paper presents the evolution of a road product model, PMC, from its early concepts in 1993 to the latest implementations and applications. It explains the basic structure...

This paper initially presents the potential use of mobile computing in the construction industry. However, it is further assumed that the use of mobile computing can significantly improve the flow of relevant information among the project participants only if the present organisational culture is subject to changes. That is further supported with t...
