Introduction
Nathalie Franckaerts (°1996) obtained her master's degree in History in 2019 at the University of Antwerp with a thesis on the legal status and economic activities of women in the early modern Antwerp meat trade. She is currently preparing a doctoral dissertation on masculinity discourses in late medieval noble travel narratives at the research centre for political history - Power in History (POHIS) - of the University of Antwerp.

Gedurende de vijftiende en zestiende eeuw kende het Antwerpse vleeshouwersambacht, net als vele andere Zuid-Nederlandse ambachtsgilden, een bloeiperiode.
