Introduction
I am involved in research projects aimed at transferring knowledge from applied linguistics to school pedagogy. My work focuses on spoken French. My current project is based on the FrOMi corpus, which was collected in schools. We recorded children entering compulsory education without speaking a word of French (the language of instruction). My research aims to describe the development of L2 phonology and vocabulary.

L1 and L2 writers attend to different aspects of the formulation subprocess of writing. L2 writers devote more time and attention to low-level aspects such as grammar correction and spelling (Barbier 1998; Fagan and Hayden 1988; Whalen and Ménard 1995), leading to better spelling performances than L1 writers (Gunnarsson-Largy 2013). In deep-orthogr...
Cette étude vise à mesurer l’acquisition des relations phono-graphémiques chez des apprenants de français langue étrangère (=FLE) en contexte scolaire et à identifier d’éventuelles interférences entre la langue des apprenants (allemand) et la langue en cours d’acquisition (français). The number of students who struggle to execute reading comprehension tasks raises in Europe, questioning the relevance and effectiveness of the teaching methods implemented in regular classrooms. In Switzerland, students of French as a second language appear to be particularly at risk of encountering such difficulties. This motivates studies to inv...
This study compared the effect of two teaching methods for L2 phonological forms, (explicit and implicit) on L2 vocabulary acquisition. Both methods facilitated vocabulary acquisition without any significant difference. The effect of the focus on forms method, which did not include meaning instruction, was equivalent to that of the communicative me...
The topic of inclusive education for underrepresented groups in the mainstream education system has long been an issue, mainly because of questions about the modalities and resources used. Today, this matter is much more affordable, thanks to digital technology. Indeed, in an education system that is becoming blended, and in which the computer play...
The customization of learning pathways based on competency profiles and game-based learning are increasingly being adopted by education stakeholders because of their potential to maximize the effectiveness of instruction. However, actual learning can vary among individuals, particularly according to specific needs (e.g., L2 speakers learners, stude...
Cet ouvrage est le fruit d’une réflexion autour de la pédagogie et de l’innovation, résultat d’un travail de terrain et de recherches sur plusieurs années et d’interrogations sur les pratiques pédagogiques des enseignants. Dans un monde en mutation perpétuel, quels sont les moyens d'accueillir et de former les apprenants allophones, dans le but d’u...
