Caring for individuals with diabetes puts health care professionals in a challenging situation. It appears that focusing on approaches such as Nurse-led Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) can enhance patients’ outcomes and improve their quality of life. Which nursing approaches do you know of that would work in a similar way as this method?
Question
To effectively managing infectious diseases, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, cooperation is needed from local, traditional, and religious leaders, healthcare professionals, community committees, networks, and vulnerable populations such as the elderly, women, students, and youth. Effective community engagement necessitates a comprehensive approach that involves collaboration across various dimensions, capacity building, decentralized decision-making, mobilization of financial resources, clear communication about health risks, and active engagement of all community members. During emergencies, it is advisable to adopt a whole community approach to maximize resources from all sectors, including charities, businesses, charitable organizations, as well as the general population. What is your opinion about the issue?
Question
Some studies suggest that certain mechanisms, such as spending money on others, are equally effective in boosting well-being for both the rich and the poor. The rich, however, have more material resources to spend. Additionally, the quality of social relationships is a strong predictor of happiness, with individuals of higher socioeconomic status typically having better relationships than those of lower status. Lastly, the ability to choose how one spends their time is a key predictor of happiness. While wealthy people may still work long hours, they likely have more control over their time compared to those with less wealth. Higher-quality social relationships, the ability to spend money on others, and greater autonomy in time management may collectively explain why higher income is associated with greater happiness. What is your opinion on the role of wealth in happiness?
