Introduction
I am a research scholar at the Institute of Microbiology, Czech Academy of Sciences, and a PhD candidate at Charles University, Prague. My research focuses on understanding transcription factors that regulate gene expression in Mycobacterium species. Basically, I spend my days decoding bacterial drama at the molecular level! I am passionate about understanding anything involving genes and proteins, or something in between.

Aspergillus is a genus of ubiquitous fungi that are pathologically & therapeutically important. Aspergillus Secondary Metabolites Database (A2MDB) is a curated compendium of information on Aspergillus & its secondary metabolome. A2MDB catalogs 807 unique non-redundantsecondary metabolites derived from 675 Aspergillus species. A2MDB has a compilatio...
Ribosomal biogenesis involves coordination of protein complexes for translation, cell growth and differentiation. An analysis of ribosomal biogenesis factor ERB1/ BOP1 in evolution and cancer was carried out using comparative bioinformatics approaches focusing on protein domain identification, phylogenetic analysis, homology modelling, analyses of...
Rifampicin is a clinically important antibiotic that binds to, and blocks the DNA/RNA channel of bacterial RNA polymerase (RNAP). Stalled, nonfunctional RNAPs can be removed from DNA by HelD proteins; this is important for maintenance of genome integrity. Recently, it was reported that HelD proteins from high G + C Actinobacteria, called HelR, are...
Mycobacterial HelD is a transcription factor that recycles stalled RNAP by dissociating it from nucleic acids and, if present, from the antibiotic rifampicin. The rescued RNAP, however, must disengage from HelD to participate in subsequent rounds of transcription. The mechanism of release is unknown. We show that HelD from Mycobacterium smegmatis f...
Bacterial transcription regulation is critical for adaptation and survival. CarD is an essential transcription factor in mycobacteria involved in regulation of gene expression. We searched for CarD interaction partners in the model organism Mycobacterium smegmatis and identified two proteins: ApeB (MSMEG_5828) and an uncharacterized protein, which...
In mycobacteria, σA is the primary sigma factor. This essential protein binds to RNA polymerase (RNAP) and mediates transcription initiation of housekeeping genes. Our knowledge about this factor in mycobacteria is limited. Here, we performed an unbiased search for interacting partners of Mycobacterium smegmatis σA. The search revealed a number of...
A gram positive, rod shaped and catalase negative strain of Lactic Acid Bacteria was isolated from traditionally fermented common lime (Citrus aurantifolia) of Assam, North-East India. Bacterial identification was done by using conventional morphological and biochemical methods as well as advanced molecular technique. Traditionally fermented lime j...

I am looking for an alternative product/protocol to Promega's discontinued HeLaScribe Nuclear Extract kit (E3110) for in vitro transcription. What I need is RNA pol II & associated transcription factors that would recognize a CMV promoter.
