Introduction
I am a Professor at Cairo University and doing research on Insect-parasitic and -pathogenic nematodes to be used in the Biological control of insect pests, Mosquito Control, Biocontrol of the Red Palm Weevil. I use the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) in my research. I also use novel and innovative methods to apply biocontrol agents and products to manage insect pests. I am now working to apply essential oils and Entomopathogenic nematodes against insect pests.

The Louisiana red swamp crayfish, Procambarus clarkii (Gerard, 1852) an invasive species in Egypt was accidently introduced from USA for commercial use as a freshwater lobster-like source of animal protein. Although, this animal consider as a pest on Nile fish especially Tilapia spp., The present paper look at the other positive side of using this...

Superparasitism is a common phenomenon in mosquito-parasitic mermithid nematodes. Multiple nematodes are needed in a single host to produce males. Host selection behavior and intraspecific competition among Romanomermis iyengari and Strelkovimermis spiculatus were investigated against their host, Culex pipiens pipiens in laboratory experiments. In...

The tomato leaf miner, Tuta absoluta (Meyrick, 1917) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) is an important pest of tomato crops in South America and it has recently been introduced to the Mediterranean area including Egypt. It is a devastative insect pest of tomato plantations. Susceptibility of T. absoluta larvae and pupae to the entomopathogenic nematode (E...

Pyriproxyfen, a juvenile hormone analogue, diflu-benzuron, a chitin synthesis inhibitor, and azadirachtin, an ecdysone agonist, are three insect growth regulators (IGRs) considered as selective and effective insecticides for mosquitoes. Romanomermis iyengari (Welch) is a mosquito-parasitic mermithid that can provide biological control against many...

This study was carried out under simulated field conditions to evaluate the efficacy of some bioagents and soil amendments, as a single or combined treatments, in controlling root-knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita infecting cucumber. Each of the fungus Verticillium chlamydosporium and the symbiotic bacterium Photorhabdus luminescens, as single or...

A species of a fresh water amphipod, Gammarus sp., collected from Wadi El-Rayan, Fayoum governorate, Egypt was described. Predation rate of Gammarus sp. on mosquito larvae was calculated. Gammarus sp. was found feeding on second instars more than first ones and it didn't feed on 3rd or 4 th instars mosquito larvae. Effect of light and aeration on t...

The nematode isolates tested were collected from different localities of Egypt. Some experiments evaluated the infectivity and susceptibility of Heterorhabditis bacteriophora and H.indica as biocontrol candidates against some economics agricultural insect pests, such as Spodoptera littoralis, Agrotis ipsilon, Sesamia cretica, Phthorimaea operculell...

Impact of in vitro combinations of entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana and Entomonematodes Heterorhabditis bacteriophora and Steinernema sp. on the fungal growth and nematode viability was thoroughly studied. In addition, the pathogenicity of fungal fluid-exposed nematodes towards Galleria mellonella last instar larvae along with their repro...
