Breast cancer is one of the most common causes of deaths worldwide. Major obstacles to treatment have contributed to the increasing popularity of complementary or alternative therapies. Although recent results support the mechanism that honey induces cell death, the full mechanisms are still unknown. This study investigates the potential use of Per...
Aim:
Anthracycline-derived antineoplastic agents are used as the main form of treatment in many malignant diseases, including breast cancer and childhood cancers. Cardiotoxicity is one of the most feared life-threatening complications of cancer therapy. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between plasma hyaluronan (HA) l...
Effective breeding programs based on genetic diversity are needed to broaden the genetic basis of rice (Oryza sativa L.) in Turkey. In this study, 81 commercial varieties from seven countries were studied in order to estimate the genomic relationships among them using nine inter-primer binding site (iPBS)-retrotransposon and 17 simple-sequence repe...
Until now, only a few genetic and physical maps had been constructed for durum wheat, mostly from the gene pools of only few geographic regions. The Fertile Crescent, particularly southeastern Turkey, is thought to be the primary center of wheat domestication and diversity. In spite of the importance of the genetic diversity from this area, a sever...
The role of extracellular matrix in lung disease has been an area of increasing research interest. Numerous
studies have demonstrated the importance of extracellular matrix in pulmonary pathologies. Evaluation of the
intracellular function and basic structural properties of proteoglycan adhesion proteins and structural proteins may reveal new appro...
Lack of requisite genetic variation in cultivated
species has necessitated systematic collection, documentation
and evaluation of wild Cicer species for use in chickpea
variety improvement programs. Cicer arietinum has very
narrow genetic variation, and the use of a wild relative in
chickpea breeding could provide a good opportunity for increasing...
Primers names, annealing temperature and banding pattern of iPBS primers
Until now only few genetic and physical maps were constructed for durum wheat, mostly belonging to pools of few specific geographic regions. The Fertile Crescent South-Eastern Turkey is thought to be the primary center of wheat domestication and diversity. In spite of importance of genetic resources from this area, a severe lack of information abou...

The lack of informative simple sequence repeat (SSRs) markers in lentil (Lens culinaris M.) has been a major limitation in the lentil molecular breeding. Therefore, in order to develop SSR markers in lentil, four enriched genomic libraries for CA, GA, AAC and ATG repeats were constructed from the Lens culinaris cv Karacadağ. A total of 432 clone se...
This study was focused to understand the genetic diversity and relationship among six Lens species. Seventy three iPBS-retransposon based markers and 30 ISSR markers were screened in a preliminary experiment among 8 accessions belonging to different Lens species. Ten informative primers which produced clear, reproducible, and unambiguous fragments...
In this study, the genetic diversity within and among species was investigated and phylogenetic analyses were performed using 40 cultivated (Lens culinaris subsp. culinaris) and 130 wild lentil genotypes, which were collected from different geographic regions of the world. Twenty lentil-specific SSR markers were used and polymorphism information co...
The Fertile Crescent is the primary center of wheat domestication and diversity. In spite of importance of genetic resources from this area, a severe lack of information about the genetic structure of the bread wheat pool from this region is evident. Although it’s importance for bread wheat breeding, so far no efforts have been made in order to und...
Questions
Question (1)
I am trying to decide my Ph.D thesis subject and there is something in my mind; I want to evaluate the neuroprotective effects of some microalgae in vitro. So I need to find a cell line or I have to make primary cell culture. But the second option is not suitable for me because I have no experience and nobody has in my lab. Anyway if there is no option, for sure I will try my best, I LOVE cell culture :)
I read a lot of articles related to my subject and saw that many researches use SH-SY5Y cell line which is a neuroblastoma cell line. But I am not interested in cancer, I want to evalute the neuroprotection in neurodegenerative diseases.
I found a cell from 'neuromics' which is called primary human neuron. Is there any advices for me?
Thanks in advance.
