Wollo society has long been traditionally known for its unique case of dignified-symbiotic-religiosity (DSR) that characterized Ethiopia as the model of peaceful religious coexistence. After nearly 40 years of secular experience, the tremor of reformist and revivalist religious groups has begun to introduce new religiosity that pose grave challenge...
The Afar people have a rich poetic tradition pertaining to every aspect of their pastoral way of life in the harsh condition of the Afar desert. One of the many genres of Afar poetics is Afar Kassow the folk’s poetized performance art. Scholars such as Morin and Hassan have identified the types and to some extent utilities of the various genres of...
This paper draws attention to the new geopolitical dynamics of the Afar-Horn states in the Post Cold War period with respect to its effects on sub regional human insecurity (among the Afar people) in the Afar-Horn. Contrary to hitherto held assumptions about the nature of conflict in the Horn region as central of inter-state relations, the Post Col...
This paper challenges the hitherto held view among scholars of peace and security studies of customary installations and practices of conflict transformation beginning from the nomen-klatura based on critical examination of the Afar Mada’a (customary law) and Mablo (system of Arbitration and Mediation). The robust experience of the Afar in managing...

Introduction
As consequences of war, women and girls are the most likely segment of society to be impacted by violence. War also affects the critical facilities and makes the situation worse as victims cannot get the vital basic services. According to media and unpublished reports, Tigrayan women have been victimized by gang rape and sexual violenc...
The pastoral world is defined by the prevalence of war, various forms of insecurity and lack of development, which constitutes violence in all its forms: direct war violence, structural violence (emanating from economic alienation and marginalisation, political repression, poverty, destitution and climatic vulnerability) and cultural violence (bias...
The reason for the continued cycle of direct violence is located between two major rivalling explanations. One is Galtung’s explanation that the invisibility of structural violence renders ceaseless, perpetuation of war/direct violence. The second is the contention of Yvest Winter who squares the circle of violence and its repetition on the normalc...
Informal Cross-Border Trader (ICBT) and cross-border migration closely ties the economies of the Horn of Africa by playing vital role in the livelihood and economy of borderlanders. An invisible form of regional integration from below is underway because of the vital role of ICBT and migration. However, this has not been captured by the formal legi...

I am working on synthesizing the unique feature of intra-state peace making during Ethio-Eritrean Border Conflict. I needed to examine the trends in other parts of Africa to give my study a regional perspective.
My interest is to interpret constitutional preambles of sub-national constitutions in Ethiopia, in Particular the Afar and Somali Regional Constitutions, to capture how past violence is conceptualized and framed. I wish to get similar works to have a comparative look and to use them inputs.
