While many studies on the relationship between climate modes and rainfall in Indonesia already exist, studies targeting climate modes’ relationship to streamflow remain rare. This study applied multiple regression (MR) models with polynomial functions to show the teleconnection from the two prominent climate modes—El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO...
Sediment deposition in the inter-floodplain of a river channel in lowland rivers contain a large amount of fine-grained sediments called “wash load”. The main objective of this study is to validate a prediction model for wash-road deposition that can take into account different sediment concentrations and flow regimes in different rivers, and to un...
This study aims to develop a method to evaluate flood disturbances acting on each river segment in a river system from basin-scale. A flood disturbance evaluation index based on dimensionless scavenging forces for representative grain sizes is proposed. The rainfall-runoff-inundation model (RRI model) was extended to calculate this index for the en...
Predicting the streamflow regimes using climate dynamics is important in water resource management. However, in Indonesia, there are few studies targeting climate indices and streamflow. Two-dimensional (2D) depth-averaged model is sufficient for use in ecological modeling and assessment of streams habitat, as well as 2D vertical velocity profile. However, because of the significant effect of streambed on flow in shallow streams (with low water depth), the velocity profile cannot always be represented by a logarithmic law for the e...
Flood-channel excavation is being implemented as a flood countermeasure in lowland rivers. The purpose of this research is to examine the cause of the difference in the sediment deposition phenomenon occurring after flood-channel excavation among each river system. The re-sedimentation process at the excavation site was investigated in the Ibi Rive...
Velocity profile have important functions in open-channel flow. In low and rough-bed stream conditions, which is a condition where relative submergence is h/D84<4 (h is mean flow depth and D84 is representative grain size), the flow is strongly influenced by bed irregularity that causes heterogeneity of flow velocity. The distribution of velocity h...

There are some studies of sediment runoff using volume of deposited sediment in large dams. However, quantitative evaluation of sediment runoff is not sufficient because the basin area is large and has various surface geologies. We paid attention to sabo dams. The basin area of sabo dam is small and has almost uniform surface geology. The analysis...
