Introduction
Montcho Crépin HOUNLONON currently works at the Laboratoire de Physique du Rayonnement (LPR) of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FAST), University of Abomey-Calavi (UAC). HOUNLONON does research in Applied Physics, Energy and mechanical engineering, Material science and Environmental engineering. Their current project is on 'Technological characterization of Wood and bio-based material' in view to create database for Benin wood and Beninese local material.

Wood is a material used in construction, in instrument making, etc. In Benin, for heavy construction and construction on wetland, species with high technological characteristics are imported. But the performance of these imported species compared to local indigenous or exotic species remains to be verified. Thus, it is necessary to determine the ba...
Wood is important in several fields including sculpture and instrument making. In the last two fields, Terminalia superba, Cleistopholis patens, and Holarrhena floribunda are three of Benin's most used wood species. In this work, we have, on prismatic samples (500 mm × 20 mm × 20 mm) of the wood of these species, used the acoustic method Beam Ident...
Wood is a material with anisotropic elastic properties at the macroscale. In the present work, asample made of Beninise teak was subjected to in situ torsion. Digital Volume Correlation (DVC) analyseswere run at the mesoscale to measure displacement fields. The corresponding strain fields were obtainedat the same scale in addition to the gray level...
Wood is a multifunctional anisotropic biomaterial. It is used in various fields, including the craft industry and the construction of structural works. In heavy construction or in wetlands, species with high technological characteristics are sought after. Mimusops andongensis is a species empirically identified as having good technological properti...
Wood is a material with anisotropic elastic properties at the macroscale. In the present work, a
sample made of Beninise teak was subjected to in situ torsion. DVC analyses were run at the mesoscale to
measure displacement fields. The corresponding strain fields were obtained at the same scale in addition
to the gray level residuals at the voxel sc...

PROPERTIES OF TEAK WOOD FROM
TANZANIAN AND LOCAL PROVENANCES
IN BENIN
Teak (Tectona grandis L. f.) is a tropical
timber species which is in great demand.
In Benin, the two most commonly planted
teak varieties are of Tanzanian and local
provenances. To contribute to the cha-
racterisation of teak from Benin, we

Teak (Tectona grandis L. f.) is a tropical timber species which is in great demand. In Benin, the two most commonly planted teak varieties are of Tanzanian and local provenances. To contribute to the characterisation of teak from Benin, we determined and compared, for each provenance, the elasticity and shear modulus, height of the bole, the circum...
