Introduction
Dr Morad is a Professor of Sociology at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh. His fields of expertise cover International Migration, Transnationalism, Social Networks, Citizenships, Diaspora, and Intra-EU Mobility. His work appeared in several peer-reviewed journals, such as The British Journal of Sociology, International Migration and Ethnic and Racial Studies.

The principal aim of this project is to explore the drivers and transnational networks that determined the process of undocumented migration from Bangladesh to Europe. In addition, this research will
focus on the types and actors of organized crime related to this undocumented Bangladeshi migration. More specifically the main objectives of this study are threefold. First, this project aims to find out the socio-economic and political key drivers that account for facilitating irregular migration from Bangladesh to Europe. Second, this research is keen to analyze the role and forms of transnational networks in facilitating irregular migration from Bangladesh to Europe. Third, this study evaluates the everyday hardship of Bangladeshi migrants experienced by the organized criminal group during their irregular migration trips across the borders until arriving at the EU country of destination.
This project aims to analyse the experiences of Bangladeshi labourers in the Middle East and Southeast Asian countries during the pandemic in order to develop a better understanding of their return migration and the socio-economic hardship of their families back home.
