In this PhD-project (joined effort between TU Delft, Ministry of Transport and Water Management and Rijkswaterstaat) we study the past, present and future partitioning of water and sediment at two Dutch bifurcation points of the Rhine river: Pannerdense Kop and IJsselkop. From studying the past we want to understand the current situation, and using climate change scenarios (which change the controls like downstream boundary conditions and upstream sediment supply) we want to predict the changes in distribution of water and sediment/sediment composition and propose measures to mitigate the consequences.

Archived project
To design a system using the available and affordable materials for cooling air in places like the kitchen where the air temperature is typically high throughout all the seasons. If successful the project would hopefully replace traditional air cooling devices which need a continuous supply of cold water or ice and consume a significant amount of energy and also are quite costly.
