A spectrophotometric procedure for the simultaneous determination of zinc(II) and copper(II) in a mixture using diethyldithiocarbamate (DDTC) as ligand has been described. Complexes formed with DDTC was extracted with CHCl(3)/CCl(4) and the absorbance was measured at 435nm which is equivalent of Cu(II) in sample only as Zn(DDTC)(2) has no absorptio...

A spectrophotometric procedure for the determination of zinc(II) by its quantitative displacement with copper(II) from diethyldithiocarbamate complex, Cu(DDTC)2 is described. Subsequently, Cu(II) complex was extracted with CHCl3/CCl4 and the absorbance was measured at 435 nm. The molar absorptivity (å) and Sandall’s sensitivity at this wavelength a...

Diethyldithiocarbamate (DDTC), the common reagent used for spectrophotometric determination, forms M(DDTC)2 complexes (M = Cu, Zn, Hg) that are soluble in organic solvents like CHCl3 or CCl4. Though DDTC complex of Cu(II) shows maximum absorption at 435 nm but that of Hg(II) and Zn(II), being non-transition elements with d10 electronic system, show...

The nickel(II) complexes of the dibasic tridentate Schiff bases viz. Sal-AnthraH2, HNP-AnthraH2, HAP-AnthraH2, HPP-AnthraH2, Acac-AnthraH2, Etac-AnthraH2, Bzac-AnthraH2, have been synthesized and characterized by IR, H1 NMR, mass and electronic spectra, magnetic and conductance studies. On the basis of analytical data four-coordinate geometry was p...

We present a simple and cost-effective replication of hierarchical nano-and microstructures on polymers by injection molding. The hierarchical nano-and microstructure replication on polymers involved fabrication of microstructured Al mold by using a micro-robot tool and nanostructure fabrication by hot water treatment (HWT) of the microstructured A...

Globally, millions of tonnes of incineration ashes are produced with a substantial portion remaining underu-tilized in low-value applications or disposed in landfills. Many types of fly ashes and bottom ashes contain metallic aluminium (Al 0), which causes volume expansion when the ashes are used in alkali-activated materials and as a supplementary...

Microplastics are a topical environmental problem that requires urgent solutions. They are ubiquitously present in various wastewaters and are discharged into aquatic environments because of difficulties in their removal. In this study, a novel filtration medium, superhydrophobic geopolymer foam, was prepared and investigated for the separation of...

Adsorption is a promising method to remove dyes, such as methylene blue, from wastewater. In this study, a dynamic adsorption set-up was used to treat synthetic wastewater containing methylene blue by using alkali-activated blast furnace slag and lignin composite foam. The structure of the foam without lignin was first optimized by comparing cation...

In this study, peracetic acid (PAA) was investigated as a novel blowing agent for the preparation of porous alkali-activated materials from metakaolin or blast furnace slag by the direct foaming method. PAA is an organic peroxide with lower stability of the O-O bond in comparison to H 2 O 2. It also introduces acetate anions to the system, which ca...

Geopolymers resemble conventional ceramics but can be manufactured at near-ambient temperatures. In this work, geopolymer–bentonite composite foam with silver nanoparticles was prepared and applied for water disinfection, inspired by point-of-use ceramic water filters. The inactivation efficiency against Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci...

This study demonstrates a high-value valorization of blast furnace slag in foamed alkali-activated filters for adsorption applications, using methylene blue as a model compound. The filters were prepared by combining alkali activation of blast furnace slag with direct foaming, followed by curing at 60 °C for 4 h. Five different surfactants were com...
Poster
In this study, we present the optimized preparation of highly porous alkali-activated foam for water and wastewater treatment applications. The foam material is inexpensive, environmentally friendly, with high enough mechanical strength, and specific surface area for the potential application in water and wastewater treatment. The raw materials wer...

In this study, we identified and incorporated various factors associated with bioaerosol to design a low-priced reusable cloth mask. Using the social distance parameters, we coined a new concept, 'Threat Zone,' to better understand the spread and transmission of the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, also known as COVID-19. Literature review on the appl...

This protocol describes a simple way to make a mask at home using the cotton or linen woven fabric available in wearable cloth or household napkin. Fabric is soaked in a solution containing the table salt (NaCl) and starch. Starch is used to increase the droplet absorption efficiency of fabric whereas salt is added for improving the virus deactivat...

The use of hierarchical nano- and microstructured materials with superhydrophobic properties are increasing due to their importance in different fields such as self-cleaning windows, textiles, automobile glass, lens, displays, snow adhesion restrain, anti-dust electronic equipment, energy conversion and conservation. The combination of hierarchical...

Viscosities of binary systems containing compounds ofalkanol, alkane, ether, aromatichydrocarbon and acetonitrile are calculated fromsix standard correlative models (Grunberg-Nissan,Heric, Ausländer, Frenkel,Lobe and McAllister models). The results were analysed in terms of applied approaches and their correlating abilities were tested by calculati...
