Purpose
In today’s intricate and dynamic construction sector, traditional project management techniques, which view projects in isolation, are no longer sufficient. Project Portfolio Management (PPM) has proven to be an efficient alternative solution for handling multiple construction projects. As such, based on a Machine Learning (ML) approach, th...
This study explores the increasing adoption of virtual alternative dispute resolution (VADR) in the construction industry, enhancing efficiency and accessibility in dispute resolution. VADR is crucial for streamlining processes and reducing participation barriers. The study aims to investigate the critical success factors (CSFs) influencing the ado...
Effective classification and detection of equipment on construction sites is critical for efficient equipment management. Despite substantial research efforts in this field, most previous studies have focused on classifying a limited number of equipment categories. Furthermore, there is a scarcity of research dedicated to heavy construction equipme...
Purpose
Rapid urbanization and the shortcomings of traditional construction methods motivate construction professionals to explore faster and more sustainable approaches such as off-site construction (OSC). Thus, the purpose of this paper is to identify the drivers influencing OSC adoption and to explore the key drivers of its widespread adoption i...
Sedimentation in the harbors’ basins is an environmental phenomenon that frequently disrupts safe shipping and necessitates costly dredging operations. The layout of harbors and the permeability of protective structures such as breakwaters influence sediment transport within harbor basins. Thus, through a multistep framework, this study investigate...
Land use/land cover (LULC) indices can be considered while developing land surface temperature (LST) models. The relationship between LST and LULC indices must be established to accurately estimate the impacts of LST changes. This study developed novel machine learning models for predicting LST using multispectral Landsat images data of Freetown ci...
Sedimentation is one of the most critical environmental issues facing harbors’ authorities that results in significant maintenance and dredging costs. Thus, it is essential to plan and manage the harbors in harmony with both the environmental and economic aspects to support Integrated Coastal Structures Management (ICSM). Harbors' layout and the pe...
Modeling of Sea Level Variation (SLV) is a complicated phenomenon owing to multiple factors that happen at different spatial and temporal scales. Thus, this paper presents an innovative multistep interdependent framework based on Wavelet Transformation (WT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms for SLV prediction. A wavelet time-frequency app...
To overcome the data limitations of wave and environmental characteristics for estimating the
significant wave height (Hs), this study investigates the use of an available dataset for wave characteristics
to predict a long-term period of Hs for the Red Sea. A novel soft-computing approach is designed for the
time-series prediction of Hs using the t...
Monitoring the dynamic behaviour of shorelines is an essential factor for integrated coastal management (ICM). In this study, satellite-derived shorelines and corresponding eroded and accreted areas of coastal zones have been calculated and assessed for 15 Km along the coasts of Ezbet Elborg, Nile Delta, Egypt. A developed approach is designed base...
Sea level change analysis and models identification are important factors used for coastal engineering applications. Moreover, sea level change modeling is used widely to evaluate and study shoreline and climate changes. This study intends to analyze and model the Alexandria, Egypt, sea level change by investigating yearly Tide gauge data collected...
This study presents Mansoura-Steel Railway Bridge, Egypt, movement analysis in response to passing trains. This bridge was used for two types of traffics which are trains on the middle and one vehicle lane on each side of the bridge. A Monitoring system is designed based on the real time kinematic Global Positioning System (RTK-GPS) to monitor and...
Monitoring concepts for structural systems have been subjected to a rapid development process. They have become more and more important in the intervention planning on new and existing structures. This paper presents an efficient approach to assessing the bridge Serviceability based on deflection data from structural health monitoring for sustainab...
Deformation and expansion joint movement of bridges are among the problems that widely exist in bridge engineering practice. Therefore, it is very important to monitor deformation of bridges, timely process and analyze the measured data to ensure their safety. Mansoura Bridge located at El-Mansoura city in Egypt is selected here to demonstrate the...

Monitoring the bridge deformation is the vital task in bridge maintenance and management. Talkha highway steel bridge is one of the two oldest steel bridges in Mansoura city. Nowadays, the Real Time Kinematic-Global Positioning System (RTK-GPS) is capable of providing fast and accurate measurements of bridge oscillations. Also, the movement and dam...
