Introduction
Michael Macneil currently studies part time at the School of Philosophy and Religion, Bangor University. Michael's PhD is focusing on epistemology. Eventually it will focus on the philosophers Alvin Plantinga and Cornelius Van Til as examples of Christian philosophical practice. With a background in the sciences, he is interested in the intersection between philosophy, science, Christianity and culture, particularly how these shape reality. This is reflected in that his Master's thesis was on Dominion Theology examining the Reconstructionist movement and his Bachelor's was on the philosophy of science. He works full time writing scientific software for a specialist manufacturing company, this he finds useful from an epistemological point of view (it keeps him grounded in realism).

In evolutionary theory a “vestigial organ” is said to be a vestige, an artefact, a relic of the previous state of development of the organism. Science and theology are often viewed as entirely separate, in opposition to one another as competing and mutually exclusive ways of viewing reality. An...
