Introduction
I run the foraminifera.eu lab //
MISSION:
The foraminifera.eu lab wants to foster the interest in foraminifera. Avocational to professional scientists shall get a free platform where they find valuable information and may show off their results.
We build a free accessible webpage on foraminifera based on a well structured image-database and easy-to-use interfaces. In the background we build project-teams where avocational and professional scientists work together in projects.

The foraminifera.eu project with its 120 avocational and professional scientific contributors has built a popular online image database containing information about fossil and recent foraminifera. Foraminiferal data available from over 200 years of scientific studies and publications were first analyzed in order to create a robust database using st...
This study documents foraminiferal faunas from the Mauritanian upper slope and shelf and analyses their association with cold-water coral habitats (=CWCH). It is based on the analysis of foraminiferal tests in 28 sediment samples of the >250 µm fraction only. One hundred and fifty seven benthic species are recorded, described and one hundred and fi...
The species diversity of benthic foraminifera at four abyssal working areas in the Labrador Sea, Labrador Basin, and Southwest of the Azores is documented. One hundred and fifty taxa (forty-three not assigned to a species) were found and their diversity was recorded. One hundred and twenty-four taxa (fifteen not assigned to a species) were illustra...
In this study the foraminifera of the glacial erratic Heiligenhafener Kieselgestein (HKG) consisting of siliceous sandstones are documented for the first time. The glacial erratics in northern Germany were deposited during the Pleistocene. The age of the HKG sandstone is indicated as Eocene from 49.6 Ma to 47.8 Ma. The lower limit is given by the f...
This study is an effort to portray and interpret the foraminiferal faunas in sedimentary glacial erratics of Northern Germany. If present fossils and namely macro fossils were commonly used to clarify their origin. So far no systematic study of foraminifera in glacial erratics has been undertaken. If at all their presence was reported only as a gro...
A case study of micro-computed tomography for the destruction-free assessment of fossils in sediments is described.

Goal:
The purpose of this project is to show modern foraminiferal faunas from Alaskan waters by imaging the found species. It is a mutual citizen science effort by fisherwomen/-men from Sitka, Alaska and the Foraminifera.eu Lab, Hamburg. A purpose is to protect the endangoured waters of Alaska by showing what is l...

The Foraminifera.eu-Project wants to foster the interest in foraminifera. It builds a bridge between science and community. It is run by amateurs. Experienced foraminiferologist get a platform to share their knowledge with inexperienced ones. We offer practical help in sample-processing, imaging and classification. Foraminifera.eu has become a popu...
