The study aims to determine the extent to which water security due to heavy metal contamination (including arsenic) influences the exposure to arsenic, morbidity of infectious diseases, and gut colonization of antibiotic resistant bacteria and to identify the extent to which chronic arsenic exposure contributes to the carriage of antibiotic resistant bacteria, including both commensal and diarrhoeagenic E. coli in the guts.
